Disappointing compared to previous staysWe stayed for just one night, as we have done several times before on our way to the south of Spain. In the past, we always enjoyed staying at El Montico, but this time the experience was quite different, especially considering this is a 4-star hotel.The biggest disappointment was the overall level of professionalism, particularly in the restaurant. The dinner was below expectations, with poor-quality ingredients, uninspiring presentation, and service that felt inexperienced and lacking attention to detail.Breakfast was also disappointing. While there was a reasonable selection, the quality of some of the products was low, the presentation could be improved, and overall it did not meet the standards we would expect from a hotel in this category.On the positive side, the rooms remain spacious and comfortable, and the swimming pool is still a pleasant feature.Unfortunately, compared with our previous visits a few years ago, the hotel seems to have declined noticeably in terms of its food and hospitality standards. We hope management takes steps to restore the quality that made us return in the past.

Hotel entrance has an awful smell as you walk in. Some of the staff are nice, some are quite rude and unhelpful. Restaurant was excellent and terrible

Bad experience. The first impression seems great, but once you take in the details!!! DEFINITELY not worth 4 stars. Hair in the shower, streaks on the glass and mirror, peeling paint on the doors. The entire room is not great. The pool water is clear, but there's moss and dirt on the bottom. The restaurant! Another thing. A very limited menu, and you still don't get what you ask for. They write down your order on paper, but do they read it in the kitchen? The breakfast is also nothing to write home about. Basic, a cornflake breakfast—that's not what you expect in such a high-quality hotel. I understand the rating based on the ample parking, pool, spacious rooms, and on-site restaurant. But our experience during the stay, and compared to many other accommodations we've stayed in, barely, really barely, deserves 3 stars. In terms of cleanliness and breakfast offering, we've had better service in a 2-star hotel.
