    Really Cool 1970s Throw-back Vibe, Decor, and Service.

    The Hotel Ercilla de Bilbao, Autograph Collection is a great stay for location and the overall appearance of a throw-back hotel.This hotel has an upscale 1970s vibe that reminds me of some of the classic hotels I've stayed in like the Waldorf Astoria in New York. It's been updated and renovated but the classic feel remains. It's in a great location with outstanding service and comfortable rooms. It's located right on a pedestrian mall and within walking distance to all kinds of restaurants as well as the Guggenheim Bilbao.As a Platinum Marriott member, a la carte breakfast in the American Bar was included for me and it was one of the BEST hotel breakfasts I've ever had, with an interesting menu and outstanding service. The staff member that greeted me each of my seven days was a gentleman who seems to have worked there for a long time. I wish I had gotten his name because his level of service was outstanding and I'd love to be able to mention his name in honor and appreciation. This is a great place that I'd return to when given the opportunity.

    This was an ideal location in the middle of the city. Everything was easily walkable from here. We had a nice spacious room (Jr. Suite) and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The service absolutely stood out--from being greeted by Jorge when we checked in to our server who remembered our coffee orders each morning. As a Bonvoy Ambassador, we appreciated the breakfast each morning and the extra touches. Highly recommend staying at this property and enjoying all the amenities!

    A Perfect Business Stay with a Personal Touch

    I recently traveled to Bilbao, Spain for work and admittedly wasn’t expecting much—but from arrival to departure, I was genuinely impressed.The city itself is incredibly easy to walk around, with a vibrant downtown full of boutiques and wonderful shops. My stay at the Hotel Ercilla truly elevated the entire experience. The location is perfect—right in the heart of the city—making everything easily accessible.What stood out most, however, was the kindness of the staff. From the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely welcomed. Kasper, who checked me in, was attentive, friendly, and incredibly patient as I asked for recommendations on what to see and do around the city, Chitzun, one of the bellman, was also consistently kind and always ready to assist with my luggage. While I typically handle my own bags, his willingness to help never went unnoticed.The fitness center was another highlight. It was clean and well-equipped, with a solid range of free weights, two benches, treadmills, a rowing machine, and a recumbent bike. There were also mats and accessories available, along with thoughtful touches like fresh towels and apples for guests.I was also fortunate to receive an upgrade to a larger room, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The room featured two TVs—one in front of the bed and another near the workspace—creating a comfortable and functional layout.The absolute standout feature, though, was the bathroom. It included both a bathtub and a separate walk-in rain shower, which felt like a true luxury. The rainfall shower experience alone was enough to make a lasting impression.Overall, I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. The combination of location, amenities, and especially the warmth of the staff made this an exceptional stay. I would absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bilbao

    This hotel is fabulous. From the staff, the rooms, the restaurant/buffett, and location, you could not ask for more. So glad we discovered this hotel. I’ve traveled the world since the 80s, and one of the best. A tremendous value.

    Family vacation of 4 people. Extra surprise to be offered 2 connecting rooms which was convenient. Clean and tidy rooms but starting to show its age a little and can use a renovation soon. The parkade is a bit tight (normal for Europe - we rented a BMW X3 and that got in and out ok. We selected breakfast as a platinum welcome amenity and the buffet spread was pretty good.
