    Worst hotel in Spain

    rating19 Apr 2026

This is the worst hotel I have ever been to. Horrible location next to a smelly sewer like industrial area. Plagued with insects. We were bitten hundreds of times by mosquitos while in our room at night while sleeping. Don’t go here !!! They offered a refund and did not go ahead with it. Terrible disgraceful disrespectful staff.

Imagine a hotel planted in the Gaza Strip. The only thing missing here would be the bombings. The hotel is across the street from a trucking depot operating 24 hours a day. The surrounding area is just wasteland, broken concrete, weeds and abandoned vehicles. The entertainment at night is watching drug deals in the vacant lot out back. Neither the restaurant nor the bar are open and have not been for a few years. A cab driver, (born and raised in Sestao), recommended we go into the Centro of Bilbao to eat because it is dangerous to walk near the hotel. The rooms are reasonable; clean and well appointed. There is secure parking in the basement. Obviously a necessity in this part of town.

    Don't - Just Don't

    rating08 Apr 2024

We arrived after a 9-hour drive to one of the most run-down areas I have ever stayed in. It was right in the docks with nothing going for it. A wrecked car in one part of the car park, a building site/demolition site all around. The room was smelly - musty and the pillows smelt of people or disinfectant depending on the pillow. The description mentioned the restaurant and that breakfast was included - when we arrived we were advised the restaurant had shut down (as in gone out of business) so food was not available for dinner or breakfast. The people who operated the restaurant had pulled out of the hotel a good while ago - I would suggest months ago yet we were not advised. We drove into the town to look for take-away - it was the most depressing town with a threatening air and we drove out as quickly as we could for our safety. There is nothing to recommend this hotel - I don't know how it exists. If you are thinking of booking it - Don't - Just Don't.

Disappointing and not value for money

    rating01 Jun 2022

We stayed one night in this hotel on the way to the Ferry to Ireland. There is secure underground parking (at extra cost) which we found useful. However, we were disappointed when, having arrived at 3.45 pm in Bilbao after an 8 hour drive in 30 degrees+ we were told that there was no facility for any drinks or refreshments in the Hotel and that such facilities would not be available until 7.30pm. We were further disappointed to find that when we came for breakfast the following morning, there was no coffee, bread or other basic food. We had to ask a member of staff to obtain some basic provisions for breakfast which seemed to confuse him. We noticed that at least four other guests who came after us also had little to eat. We gained the impression (right or wrong) that the hotel is not geared to accommodating foreign guests as after an initial early breakfast rush there seemed little interest in guests coming later. We particularly noted the lack of staff on the ground and everything seemed to be the responsibility of one staff member.

Fine hotel, clean, helpful staff,But,after arriving mid afternoon we were told restaurant did not open till 20-30.A weary diabetic inquired in the bar,and a sandwich was produced.European dining is at different hours to us, this could be made more obvious. We enjoyed our stay and arrived safely at the port after a short trip
