Location

This hotel is located in the heart of Urdaibai nature reserve, where guests will find a variety of landscapes, including cliffs and estuaries, as part of a unique region which sees a myriad of valleys, deep forest and swamps next to green fields and cottages, alongside great natural and cultural heritage and beautiful fauna. Guernica's nightlife is pleasant and entertaining, thanks to plenty of classical bars and pintxos (Basque tapas bars). The train station at Busturia is just 500 m away, and the beach there is about 2 km from the hotel. The nearest town of Mundaka is about 3 km away, and Guernica lies some 7 km away.

    It's a charming hotel. Very nice staff. The rooms are very comfortable and the stay has been pleasant. Ours in particular did not give nature, it gave more to the road and the bar. Very quiet.They have an adjoining bar where breakfast is served and have lunch and dinner. On weekdays it is more closed but it is normal since the capacity of the hotel is 20 rooms and maybe there is not so much flow of people. The couple running the bar are lovely! Choosing this hotel has been a success as it is very close to a lot of villages but has the tranquility of being in the mountains! Yes I would highlight several things: the change of towels is daily, whether you want to or not... yes we found it a good service, but maybe too much for 4 nights we stayed. On the other hand, it did strike us that one day we woke up somewhat later, we were in bed, and they went into the room... caught us somewhat off guard... I spent another few days! Yes, I think there should be the typical “busy” or “free” hotels to indicate a little that they cannot enter the room. Having said all this, I understand that not being a very large hotel the cleaning people will not be all day... Anyway, highly recommended accommodation and very good treatment.     A base for a romantic weekend away, the hotel is large and quiet. The bedding is very comfortable. Well-equipped bathroom.     What else could you need after a day of hiking around such beatiful places?!The room was bright, clean, worm and really confortable. It is nice when you arrive to the place, after a rainy journey (as in our case, quite common in the basque coast), and when you get worm having a hot shower followed by a delicious dinner. We really enjoyed our stay in Ibaigune!Besides, the hotel is very well situated in the valey, so there is no need to drive to get into the forests and have nice walks... and even to go to Gernika, Mundaka, towns around... because the train station is quite close.

    Just back from a 5 day stay at the Hotel Ibaigune, the hotel is set amidst wonderful scenery in the small town of Mureta, the hotel is rated as a 2 star and for this it was more than adequate, the rooms are basic but clean and tidy, linen and towels were changed every couple of days, however what made this a better than ordinary stay was the food and service which was first class, Jonathon who looks after the bar and Rafaella who prepares the food were brilliant hosts who went out of their way to make us feel very welcome, their bubbly personalities go along way to making you feel at home.The only down side is the entrance to the main reception is up a small but pretty steep hill however I feel this is small price to pay for what for us overall was a wonderful stay
