    Great stay in Bilbao

    The hotel is easy to get to on public transport and easy walking to the tourist sites. Our room was modern, clean, quiet and comfortable. There are few good restaurants nearby, but a short walk across the river provides more choice. During our stay we had to reserve breakfast times to accommodate a pushy tourist group – unfortunately the group did not respect the times making the small breakfast room crowded until they left. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice and quality items. Reception was friendly and helpful. Wifi was good. Would stay again without hesitation.     This is our third time staying here. After the first visit, I have always asked for the same room, 606, or the equivalent on any of the floors, as it was so quiet. The hotel always obliges with exactly the same room, 606. Now that is customer focus. The hotel is well located. Close to Abando station. El Corte Ingles across the street. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby.The staff are excellent.The rooms are spotlessly clean. Well, I can only vouch for room 606.A fridge, a safe. AC enabling me to cool the room. Which is not always a feature of Spanish hotels in February.Before Bilbao we stayed at Sercotel Logroño. It was great too.We will definitely be back to Sercotel Ayala.     We booked a superior room and found it to be a good size for us and our luggage. The room was clean and surprisingly quiet given its central location. All staff we encountered were helpful. The location is great. It is walking distance to the station, old town and Guggenheim.     Taxi to/from airport was cheaper than Uber. Easy check in, nice front desk staff. Hotel is very simple, no amenities at all but it was clean and quiet (I asked for a quiet room - apparently street and bar noise can be bad according to some reviews here). I did not have breakfast at the hotel. There’s a nice Starbucks a few feet away and also a coffee shop next door. Room was of a good size, bed and pillows were ok. Bathroom had a common shower/tub, shower pressure and soap/shampoo/ body lotion were average. I thought it was a bit expensive for the hotel quality but overall no complaints; it did its job without any luxuries.
