    I came to this hotel as a solo traveler from California, having basic level conversational spanish skills. Every level of staff at this hotel was so helpful and assisted me as I navigated my time in the area for my first time. The room was a basic room, but a great size and clean and comfortable for getting much needed rest. The exercise and spa amenities were top notch and not much of an extra added price to enjoy. The location to the center plaza of town to explore the historical sites and local night life was just across the street. I felt safe, and cared for while here!     This was booked as part of our tour but it was a good choice. Durango is only a small town and this hotel is in a quiet location just across the road from the entrance to the old town. The staff were all very friendly and helpful especially in the restaurant.Don't fall for the water in the fridge being complimentary as it's €2 for a tiny bottle!!! There's a store not far away to buy a big bottle for less than half that! The room was well equipped but the bathroom was quite small and you had to be careful opening the door if anyone else was in there!We couldn't get the safe to lock but it felt a very safe environment there anyway and we didn't ask to have it fixed.     Old Shouldn't Equal Dirty

    Silken DurangoBecause of the photos online, we had high expectations for this hotel.What we found was a well kept exterior and great exterior design concept but rooms with very dated interior that lacked basic maintenance and upkeep.Our family had a total of three rooms in what appears like the facility's keep or tower. Our room had the following deficiencies: (believe it was 221 - first door at top of stairs): • Worn/Filthy/Stained Carpet• Peeling/Stained Wallpaper• Rotted Baseboards/Trim(See Photos)Note: Family told us their rooms were not much better.Another issue was that our bed which was two twins pushed together kept separating because it was on wheels, not stationary like most are when in this configuration.Although an adequately maintained room would not have been unreasonable at the hotel's rate of $182 (this amount did not including parking), this one was certainly a waste for the condition of the room.Please know there is not valet or bellman and you may need to take two elevators to get to your second story room.Not everything was bad, highlights were the restaurant/room service staff which were kind, knowledgeable, and prompt. Food was very good!     They took my loempia so 1 starBut the other waiter was awesome so 5 starsBoth cancel each other out resulting in a 3 star. Need another 100 symbols :/ the pool was e the food was e the bed was e the beer in the mini-fridge was bad but the Kas was good. 1906 beer the best in the land though.     This hotel is in a nice location, just outside the old town which you can walk to in a few minutes. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and nicely decorated. You can pay to park in the hotel or there are also some spaces available on the street in the area.
