  Stayed 6 nights and really wanted to like this hotel but…Location not suitable for a female. Burly men might feel safe. Very dark area that abuts an immigrant populated area. I did not feel safe walking out after dark so I ate in hotel several nights. No recommended restaurants close enough to hotel. Fried peppers were fabulous snack (light a light hollow French fry) but wasn’t impressed by the rest of the meals I tried including the hamburger of the salad. The girl who runs the restaurant at night is very friendly and competent although she does not speak English. Most of staff spoke poor English, front desk clerks better than the rest. The hotel is an ihg voco but on my credit card statement hotel put thru the name as “Kirikiño Immuebles” and Chase did not apply the correct # of points so I was forced to waste my time calling Chase to rectify and based on experience will need to call several times to get my points. Why can’t a hotel use its proper name with credit card transactions? 3 of my 6 days I requested no housekeeping and was told I would receive the additional points (500/day)when my stay posted to IHG. I inquired re posting of the points several times and told them that at every other IHG hotel the housekeeping points posted within 24 hours of the night, not after checkout. I NEVER received my 1500 points. Breakfast was very good although on some days food was not replenished after 9:30-9:45 (closes at 10). I think replenishment depended upon who was on staff that days. They will make you some eggs/hot entries if you know to ask. There is a small menu by the checkin desk but they dont hand it to you. You need to know to ask for the menu. I never saw it on a table. As Diamond I did receive a nice upgrade to suite. Note, the suites include a coffee machine but not a tea kettle. I did request a kettle and after 2 days my request was granted. But the tea was not replenished daily even when I did have housekeeping service. Beware, standard rooms are tiny. Nightly rate was good but not worth it. Next time I’ll stay closer to town in location that will feel safer to me. Bilbao should not be missed but stay elsewhere if you are female. IHG needs a more central property in Bilbao.

  Nice room and great staff; just beware of location

  We stayed one night here after flying into Bilbao airport. The staff was kind, patient and spoke English well. This seems to be a new hotel. All rooms are very modern if that's the vibe you want. Very clean facility with nice toiletries provided. I would stay here again. Just be aware though: if you are going to Casco Viejo be aware that the quickest way there may not be the safest walking there at night. The staff told us kindly to take the longer but more scenic route.

  A great hotel with wonderful staff

  A great hotel 15 minutes walk from the city centre not recommended if you have walking difficulties as it’s on an incline. The rooms are small but immaculately clean. The hotel staff make you welcome in every department. Breakfast has a ray of choices fresh and tasty very enjoyable. A big thank you to the reception staff, the bar attendant , the room cleaner and the breakfast staff for making our stay a great memory in a wonderful city

  I swithered between 4 and 5 rating, it’s better than good but not enough to be excellentTypical Voco rebrand of an old hotel - any reviews on here that are more than a few months old ignore them as they relate to the previous hotel where as IHG have clearly done an awful lot of work during the rebrandIt looks a bit of a dump from the outside but don’t worry as the inside is pretty good First the area - people say it’s dodgy but I saw nothing to make me worry even at night, it’s 2 mins walk from main busy streeet. Les than 10 walk to a Renfe station that got me from bus station easily. It’s 15 mins walk to the stop for the airport bus through runs from 5am for early flights - a really easy and safe walk it is too The rooms were modern but the open nature of sink and shower might not suit some when sharing, shower was really good thoughChose this due to it being IHG and it got me a diamond member upgrade to a “grand room” which was much bigger than “cosy” which might be too small for someBed was obv brand new and incredibly comfortable with great pillows. No noise at all inside or outside Basic facilities though , breakfast wasn’t great compared to other ING hotels and just a bar on top but it’s close enough to the centre to find plenty of choice of bars , restaurants and sightseeing - shame I was there when it poured with rain every day but the public transport is fantastic and cheap with Barik card from machines in every metro station I’d certainly return if in the area and recommend even though I had to chase promotion points not applied correctly for greener stay

  The area lets the hotel down

  The hotel and bedroom is spotlessly clean. The shower is rather peculiar, as it is in a glass enclosure to one side in the bedroom. This means there is not much privacy. Neither myself or my travel companion particularly want to be seen in the shower, and the only mirror in the room is over the sink which is right beside the shower. So when one of us was in the shower the other stayed out of the way in the bedroom area, even though there was nowhere else with a mirror to use for getting ready. If this was the only issue I would stay here again however a clean and very modern hotel is let down by an area which does not feel safe. Particularly after dark the area felt dangerous with groups of men hanging around smoking cannabis and drinking. I did not like walking here after dark, there was a menacing feeling about it. Any interactions with staff were very pleasant and they were helpful, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean however due to the area I could not recommend staying here.
