A return visit
14 Aug 2026
This was our second visit to this hotel. The hotel itself is full of character and the gardens are beautiful. This time we had a suite which was huge and elegantly decorated with a private patio where we enjoyed drinks from the bar. The staff are eager to please and the food and service in the restaurant was very good. Hopefully we will be back. A beautiful space with an open, spacious design. Incredibly peaceful, right next to the beach. The food, the pools, and the service were all amazing. Second Visit - needs a deep clean
14 Jul 2026
This was our second stay here, and it wasn't as good as the previous time. I know the property has changed management companies so maybe that is why.The restaurants were okay and the food was okay (I recall the food being exceptional). Our room was comfortable but tired and in need of a renovation. There was black mould in the shower so basic maintenance / cleanliness was missing. I know this is a heritage hotel but this should never be an excuse for lack of cleanliness or maintenance. Kalpa Nanayakkara, General Manager at The Villa Bentota by KK Collection, responded to this review Dear Mr. Grant,Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback following your second visit to The Villa Bentota by KK Collection. We truly appreciate guests who return to stay with us and take the time to share their thoughts. We are pleased to know that you enjoyed the comfort of your room and had the opportunity to experience our restaurant offerings. Your comments and observations are valuable to us as we continue to maintain and enhance this unique heritage property. The Villa Bentota is a historic Geoffrey Bawa-designed villa, and we continue to preserve its original character while ensuring that our guests enjoy a comfortable and memorable stay.Thank you once again for choosing to return to us and for sharing your experience. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back again in the future.Warm regards,Kalpa NanayakkaraResident ManagerThe Villa Bentota by KK Collection
