A unique lovely hotel situated a 15-20 min drive outside of NE centre in a beautiful quiet valley. The building is amazing with lots of old features still in tact and the grounds are exceptional, big shout to the gardening team as well as Krishna in the mini tea factory - the kids loved it. We also did a 5k walk on part of the Pekoe trail from the hotel which was stunning scenery. One drawback was the quality of the food for the price, which didn't match up compared to other hotels throughout our trip. Premium pricing but not quite premium product.

Amazing former tea factory now a charming hotel

A serene, charming hotel set in the midst of rolling tea plantation. A visit to their tea museum and picking experience was fun and hugely enjoyable, dressing in traditional wear was a revelation. Had a drink in the bar, listen to the bar man he knows his drinks!!Dinner and breakfast were served in a beautiful exposed wood beams and floor the house curry in a must.The hotel organiser trip to the local tea pickers village. What an morning the family were so friendly and the lunch we helped cook was fantastic.We finished the day early and treated ourselves to a massage in the spa very relaxing the ladies wherever proficient and sorted out all the knot we've gain A totally relaxed hotel with wonderful views and amazing staff!

Our stay at Heritance Tea Factory was truly a unique and memorable experience. The concept of transforming an old tea factory into a luxury hotel is simply brilliant, and the atmosphere perfectly captures the charm and history of Sri Lanka’s tea country.The location is breathtaking, surrounded by rolling green tea plantations and misty mountain views. Waking up to that scenery was magical, and the cool climate makes the experience even more special.The highlight of our stay was the exceptional service at the restaurant. A special thank you to Harsha, Vijay, Norbert, and Rubinoth, who went above and beyond to make our dining experience outstanding. Their hospitality, attentiveness, and genuine warmth made us feel incredibly welcome. They were always smiling, attentive to every detail, and ensured we had a fantastic dining experience throughout our stay.The food itself was excellent, with a great variety of Sri Lankan and international dishes, and enjoying meals while overlooking the tea plantations made it even more memorable.Heritance Tea Factory is not just a hotel — it is an experience that combines history, nature, and outstanding Sri Lankan hospitality. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Nuwara Eliya and the hill country.We will definitely return again.

Stylish and well thought out, but let down by breakfast

We were driven the 3hrs from Kandy to Nuwara Elia as the train service remains out of commission after the cyclone, although with hindsight the 4 hour train journey might have been too much anyway.We stopped en route for photos, coffee and coconuts and a visit & tasting at the Laboukelle tea factory, highly recommended.After a fun lunch at Themparadu in N-E (recommended) we were driven on to the Heritance Tea factory, a wonderfully restored colonial tea factory, the final 5km being on single-lane road weaving along & up through the plantations into the growing afternoon gloom - apparently the clouds descend most afternoons.The spa had some availability despite our late afternoon arrival (good treatment & good value for money), and duly refreshed we enjoyed an unparalleled immersive dining experience in a vintage train carriage ($100pp + drinks, good selection by the glass), complete with uniformed guard/waiter. Magic.Our room was comfortable and well-equipped, but a bit warm, thankfully the windows could be opened. We only stayed one night, but activities including cycling and tea plantation visits looked fun and we could have happily stayed two nights.Great effort has been made to include elements from the past, with helpful information provided on the various vintage machinery.Our only negative comment would be that the breakfast buffet did not live up to the standard of the venue, both in terms of the food offering and the service, which was not that welcoming (and charging extra for a cappuccino seems a bit unnecessary!). Nothing that a little attention from management can't remedy.Our adventure was organised by Caroline at Stylish Resorts, with in-country help from Sri Lanka in Style.
