    The Great Haymarket

    rating09 Jun 2026

Haymarket is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. I rarely sleep well in hotels, but the pillows and mattress are so comfortable, I had no troubles at all for my whole stay. The location is fantastic, close to the central underground station and the main tram line needed to see Stockholm's best sights. In general the whole area is very walkable and there are so many options for eating in close proximity! The lights in the room are a little dim which adds to the retro vibe I love, and I had no problems with it (it's actually lovely and relaxing), but if you plan to read a book in the evening, you may be less appreciative. The cleaning staff only clean the room on request, but frankly you don't need it. The towels are changed daily and I was actually pleased not to have my comfortable pillow arrangement changed for no reason. The reception staff were generally helpful and the aesthetics of the place are just gorgeous.I fell in love with Stockholm on this trip and I'll definitely be back, and I won't choose another hotel than Haymarket when I do.

    Cramped, airless, basic room

    rating08 Jun 2026

Very basic cramped room. Tiny useless bedside shelf. Doors collide as it’s so small. No toiletries such as tissues or shower cap etc. Windows unable to be opened- hotel policy. Air conditioning can’t be controlled- just reverts to a set temperature whatever you do. Got a nasty shock when I went to use a cup and found it dirty from the last guest’s coffee.

Room without windows, poor staff service, noisy hotel, mid breakfast all for a very high end price

    Don’t go here

    rating23 May 2026

I had booked a room without a window, so I was aware of that in advance — but paying over 300€ for it still felt excessive given the overall experience. What made it worse was how difficult the room was to access: from the elevator you had to go down a flight of stairs, make several turns, go up another set of stairs, and then walk a long distance. Extremely inconvenient. The breakfast area was overcrowded and poorly organized. It was genuinely difficult to find a free table, which made the whole experience stressful rather than enjoyable. The worst part, however, was the service. After a full day at the office, I returned to my room and found that the lights weren’t working. I reported the issue at reception, but when I came back, nothing had been fixed. When I raised the issue again, they claimed there was no record of my report in their system. Eventually, they came up and fixed it — and it was a very simple fix — but throughout the whole interaction, the staff member behaved as if the situation was somehow my fault. The only positive aspect of this hotel is its central location. Unfortunately, that alone does not make up for the poor service and overall experience.

Looks good from the outside, but is rotten.

    rating15 May 2026

You should know about the poor working conditions the cleaning staff face. My wife recently started working there as a cleaner and experienced a situation that felt both unfair and unprofessional. Employees are expected to clean a certain number of rooms decided by management, and if they do not finish in time, they are apparently expected to continue working without pay just to complete the assigned workload. The work itself is physically demanding, and despite working hard, staff seem to receive criticism rather than support or constructive feedback. What made the situation even more upsetting was how communication was handled. My wife received absolutely no feedback or explanation from management. Instead, she eventually realized something was wrong because she had simply been removed from the group chat. That was apparently how she discovered she was no longer part of things. As far as we understand, this happened after she asked a single question: whether it was really acceptable, from a labor rights perspective, to require employees to work unpaid if they could not complete the number of rooms assigned by hotel management. She did not create conflict or repeatedly argue; she simply asked one reasonable question.Being excluded without explanation after raising such a concern feels deeply troubling and raises serious questions about how staff are treated.
