    A comfortable stay in a modernised 19th century hotel, obviously proud of its heritage, with an excellent buffet breakfast and an attentive waiter bringing coffee. The hotel couldn't be more conveniently located for the railway station, which is only a couple of hundred metres away. The room was clean with comfortable beds, and the bathroom was spotless. Free sparkling water on the landing. A little sound in the morning from the trams in the street outside but all part of the Basel experience. Old town a half hour walk away. Very enjoyable.     A good hotel for visting Basle, close to the SBB train station and public transport to everywhere. Friendly staff, clean, comfortable rooms and a 24 hr bar for that nightcup. Breakfast, but no restaurants (but more than enough close by). We stayed in the quiet building, it may get a bit noisy in the street facing rooms.     Cannot say enough positive things about this hotel. Although situated by the station which in other European cities is often undesirable, in Basel the station is a wonderful centre and the environs are safe, clean and welcoming. Just get off the airport bus (no need to buy a ticket if you have an hotel reservation) and it is on the other side of the station square. The trams station is in front of the hotel so convenient as the Basel Card (free from the hotel) means you can use the trams all over the city for free! Trams are frequent and easy to use. The hotel is exceptionally clean and the staff are welcoming. The beds are comfortable and the cleanliness is fantastic. The toilet and shower is pristine. You can only hear the trams (we were at the front of hotel) occasionally but the glazing is very good and the trams stop before midnight so it’s quite peaceful. Easily left bags before checking in and after check out. Great value and great location. Highly recommended!!     I regularly stay here when on business in Basel. The staff are efficient, polite and courteous. In particular, the restaurant staff at breakfast are very accommodating to make sure I can access a good breakfast quickly and efficiently before leaving for meetings. The hotel building is elegant with period features and sympathetically modernised. Rooms are a good size and always neat, functional and clean. The local trams leave from outside the entrance giving excellent access to the city.     This hotel was a wonderful surprise for my first trip to Switzerland! The front desk staff, including Thomas, Carole, and Jay, were really friendly and very helpful. The location was great, being so close to the railway station, we stayed in the Villa - perfect rooms that were clean and nicely air conditioned. And the breakfast that we had every morning was just wonderful.I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else, and we will be back.
