Perfect Start to Our First Visit to Basel.

    rating26 Jun 2026

We spent 1 night here prior to our river cruise to Amsterdam. the location was excellent for a little shopping and sightseeing for our abreviated stay.Literally a 2 minute walk to Spalentor Gate. Room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was tasty with a good selection of food and a perfect start to the day. Having said that, the reason we will return is because the entire staff made us feel welcomed and their determination to make our Basel visit memerable. This was our forst visit to Basel, we know we want to return and would not entertain staying anywhere else but this hotel.Perfect Start to out Basel Rezeption PC, Gästeservice/Empfang at Hotel Spalentor Basel, responded to this review Dear Donw149Thank you very much for your beautiful feedback! We are delighted that we could make your first stay in Basel so memorable before you set sail for Amsterdam. It is great to know you loved the spacious room, our breakfast, and the handy location by the Spalentor Gate. Knowing that our team made you feel so welcome is the best compliment we could receive. Have a wonderful cruise, and we look forward to your return!Sunny greetings from baselYour Hotel Spalentor Team

Super hotel, very good location, nice, clean comfortable beds eves. Parkingi s a little bit complicated, but good (the neighboring street was closed - I think it's termperary - because of the street recontstruction.) I recommened it to anyone. Splendid location and rooms

    rating14 Jun 2026

Besides having a convenient location near the old town, our room was very comfortable and spacious. We overlooked the front courtyard on the Main Street, but the windows sealed out the traffic noise. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and it was a nice option to have snacks and drinks at the small ground level bar area after having been walking all day. Breakfast was on the fifth floor and they had a great selection. Best value and overall Hotel experience we have ever had in all our travels.

Excellent place to stay in Basel. They had all the amenities one could ask for while traveling (even a scale to see how much one gained during the trip!). The staff was excellent; bed comfortable; clean facilities and good, varied breakfast included with the room. They also have bikes for free to use, which we highly recommend for a casual ride along the Rhine. Well situated and very quiet considering its location of city center. Loved our stay there. Rezeption PC, Gästeservice/Empfang at Hotel Spalentor Basel, responded to this review Dear 459cheriaThank you so much for this outstanding feedback on your stay with us! We are delighted that you have such positive memories of our amenities—including the scale with a touch of humor—and our comfort. We’re glad you also enjoyed our breakfast, the central yet quiet location, and our free bicycles for a ride along the Rhine. Your praise for our team motivates us all greatly. We would be absolutely delighted to welcome you back as our guest in Basel soon!Kindest wishes from baselYour Hotel Spalentor Team
