    Two night stay

    rating23 Sept 2026

We traveled by train from Geneva. While distance wise it’s not far from the train station to the hotel it is uphill and on cobblestone! I would not advise walking like we did. Either taxi, bus or tram would be a better option. The room was very comfortable temperature wise. The bed was just okay, kind of firm and a thinner mattress. The bathroom was a dream with a bathtub and a shower with a rain shower head. If you care, no washcloths are at this hotel, so travel with one. A body/hair gel combo is the soap.Breakfast again was sufficient but not great option wise.Location was great. To get down to Ouchy you do need to use public transportation but it’s very easy.Beautiful walkable city full of young people.

    Good place to stay

    rating21 Aug 2026

Hotel is 10 minutes walk from the train station. It's a basic hotel, room is a reasonable size, has some storage space, no bar fridge, good airconditioning. The room & bathroom are very clean, not very modern. The bed & pillow were comfortable, room had a small balcony with a nice view. The breakfast was nice, had a selection of hot & cold food. There is free coffee in the foyer. The hotel is central to most attractions, no need for public transport. Make sure you ask the hotel for a discount card, this gives you free public transport & discounts on entry fees into attractions. Lovely views.

Really nice room, with a balcony - very spacious and a nice view of Lake Geneva. Free travel card for the duration of stay. Easy therefore to get to the town centre and the lakeside. Can't comment on breakfast as we left early but we were given a "take away breakfast" which we really appreciated. Stefano Brunetti Imfeld, Propriétaire at Hotel de la Paix Lausanne, responded to this review Your comment is a true source of motivation for our entire team.We are delighted that your stay offered you both comfort and an opportunity to enjoy Lausanne with ease.Thank you for your kind words, and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back for another stay in Lausanne.

I lose my money, but I keep my dignity: I shall never set foot in this hotel again.

    rating17 Jul 2026

What happened this time is of a different order altogether, and it is the reason I left the establishment immediately. I did not wait: I set my bags down, picked them up again, and left.I check in at 4 o’clock on Friday the 17th, received by a person who appears to be the hotel’s manager. I am asked for identification. By reflex, I present my French residence permit. I have stayed in a good many hotels in Switzerland, notably in Lausanne, and it has always sufficed; I have never once been asked for a passport. Then, as the lady examines my French residence permit, I notice a change of tone. She asks for my passport. Rather tired from my journey, I calmly explain that my residence permit has always sufficed at check-in notably at this very hotel, where I have stayed on several occasions, as at other hotels in Lausanne, for I have been coming to Lausanne for years. I simply wished to understand, for my own information, why it was being required today. That question, perfectly legitimate, set everything off.It is at this point that she adopts a tone I shall describe as condescending, in the middle of a hotel lobby, and explains to me that in Switzerland a residence permit is not accepted, reminding me that Switzerland is not in the European Union and that I am not French. She presses on. She gives me no time. I am genuinely in shock. There follow questions whose relevance to the handing over of a room key still escapes me: “Do you work in Switzerland?” I fail to see how my professional situation had any bearing on my stay. I remained silent, dumbfounded. I was not, as it happens, hard of hearing. And then, at the close of this performance, she announces: “But I shall accept it exceptionally.”Exceptionally.I did not understand. If you do accept residence permits, even exceptionally, why the entire speech? Why the whole scene, to the point of making your colleague turn round repeatedly, along with the guests walking past?I stood there frozen. I still do not understand by what right one addresses a guest in such a manner, nor what, in a booking paid for in advance, called for a moral lecture and an interrogation. If the aim was to accept the document, none of that theatre was necessary. I shall accuse no one: I do not ascribe intentions I cannot establish. I report what was said, in what tone, and in front of whom. Each reader will judge for themselves.Straight after my check-in, I looked for another hotel and advised them of my check-out. I picked up my bags and left, forfeiting several nights already paid for on a non-refundable rate. The calculation was swift. I lose my money, but I keep my dignity. And for anyone inclined to think I imagined it all: my check-out, handled by that very same lady, prompted no reaction whatsoever. None. Not a question, not a word, not a flicker of regret. That confirmed I had imagined nothing at all.I do not recommend this establishment. A front desk is not a checkpoint. It is the first gesture of hospitality and very often the only one a guest remembers.

Not clean , not friendly workers, not for 4 stars hotel …Also they ask for a guarantee for the poor drink/food from the fridge , 100 CHF , like you could cheat ( consume) and run ?? . And every day someone is coming at your door to check the fridge ????
