Drei Könige for guests of royalty!

    rating19 May 2026

I recommend this hotel for visitors to Lucerne. It's located about 300 meters from the center of the old town. The rooms are clean and quite large, with key locks and no annoying electronic key cards. The breakfast is delicious: fruit, vegetables, eggs, yogurt, and great coffee. After a breakfast like that, Lucerne tasted delicious as well. Thomas Hostettler, Owner at Drei Konige Hotel Lucerne, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you so much for sharing this delightful review! It was a pleasure to read. We are thrilled that the hotel itself has made your stay memorable, and we hope that you will enjoy your time with us. We are glad the location suited your visit, especially as it's just a short distant from the old town. It's wonderful that you appreciated the spaciousness and cleanliness of the room, as well as the simplicity of the traditional keys, added to your comfort. Your kind words about breakfast mean a lot to us. We are grateful for your warm recommendation and for choosing to stay with us during your time in Lucerne. We would love to welcome you back on your next trip to Switzerland, particularly to Lucerne.Your sincerely,Thomas Hostettler, Direction

An acceptable hotel, in a reasonable location, at a reasonable price so RECOMMENDED.

    rating10 May 2026

The Drei Koenig (The three Kings) Hotel is a short distance from the centre of Lucerne, but within a relatively easy walk to the major tourist icons of Lucerne; its river and medieval wooden bridge (not totally medieval as a large section was destroyed by fire in 1993), its very impressive Baroque Catholic Church, and the rock lion carving commemorating the death of hundreds of Swiss guards protecting an exiled France king during the French Revolution. The rooms in the Drei Koenig are quite spacious with a large bed (two joined singles); small fridge, safe and a couple of chairs and a desk. Whilst a kettle and cups are not provided in the room, there is constant hot water, cups, milk capsules and a range of teas near the reception area, but strangely no coffee. For the more budget conscious there is a large Migros supermarket on the way to the Rock Lion, not that close, but it has a wide range of prepared salads etc., and the necessary alcoholic beverages after a hectic day of touring. The hotel has its own separate restaurant which looked a bit upmarket so dinner options may be a bit on the expensive side. There is a takeaway pizzeria very close by providing, you haven’t already overdosed on pizzas. The bathroom was small but functional with the bath/shower combination feared by mature tourists and a bit slippy. There is the usual, older style small lift which creates chaos when large tour groups arrive with their voluminous luggage.Lucerne, rates as my best favoured Swiss City after Geneva and Bern, and there are a few interesting tourist attractions to keep you amused for a day and convenient to the Three Kings. So an acceptable hotel, in a reasonable location, at a reasonable price so RECOMMENDED. Thomas Hostettler, Owner at Drei Konige Hotel Lucerne, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and detailed review. We are delighted that you were able to enjoy so much of Lucerne, and that our location made it easy for you to explore the city’s highlights, from the Chapel Bridge and the Jesuit Church to the Lion Monument. Your description captures the charm of the area beautifully. It's wonderful to hear that you found the room layout, storage space and amenities suitable for your needs, and that you found the tea station near reception helpful. Please note that coffee is only available during breakfast time, outside of these hours, coffee is available for purchase at our reception for CHF 5.00. Your practical tips about the nearby supermarket and dining options will certainly be appreciated by future travellers. Our bathrooms are provided the basic amenities. If you find the bathroom floor slippery, please ask our team for an anti-slip mat. As not many guests want to use it, it won't always be available in the bathroom. As a city hotel, we have only one main lift, which allows guests to access all guest floors and the breakfast area. There is a stair option for guests who would prefer not to wait for the lift. There is a restaurant next door with the same name as our hotel, but we are not affiliated with it. We only offer bed and breakfast. Your feedback helps us to refine the experience for guests of all ages and travel styles, and we will continue to work on improvements where they matter most.We are delighted to learn that Lucerne remains one of your favourite Swiss cities and that our hotel contributed positively to your visit. We truly appreciate your feedback and recommendation. We hope to welcome you back on your next trip to Switzerland.Your sincerely,Thomas Hotettler, Direction

    Best accommodation on our tour

    rating25 Mar 2026

My wife and I stayed here along with another couple for two nights while visiting several cities in Switzerland. Of the four hotels where we stayed, this one was the best. First impressions are important, and the impression here was excellent. We were greeted warmly and given good information about things to do and see. The room had windows on two walls, providing city and Alps views that were wonderful. The room was large, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast was served hot with a nice selection of items. All in our group would highly recommend the Drei Konige. Thomas Hostettler, Owner at Drei Konige Hotel Lucerne, responded to this review Dear David,Thank you so much for your fantastic feedback following your stay at the Hotel Drei Könige in Lucerne. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and felt welcome. We are also glad that you appreciated the spaciousness and cleanliness of the room, the view of the Alps, and our breakfast. We really appreciate your kind words, they mean a lot to us! Thank you for saying that our hotel exceeded your expectations and that you had a positive experience overall. We would love to host you again on your next trip to Lucerne.Best regardsThomas Hostettler, Direction

Within walking distance of downtown Lucerne

    rating31 Dec 2025

We checked into Drei Konige Hotel. Six floors and we were in room 604. The small elevator held a maximum of three passengers and their luggage so it took a while for our group of 42 to get to their rooms. They give you a huge key which would be difficult to lose. You have to turn a switch when you enter your room so the lights will go on. Two single beds were joined, and each had its own comforter. There was a desk with a small lamp and an electrical socket. I had to go to the front desk to get an adapter for my European plug. They do not have hot pots in the rooms, but they do have a large container of hot water and carafes to transport the hot water to your room if desired. The bathroom had a tub/shower. One thing we find very annoying and dangerous is the fact there was a raised lip entering your room and also your bathroom. Both are possible tripping hazards. Thomas Hostettler, Owner at Drei Konige Hotel Lucerne, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on your recent stay at the Hotel Drei Könige Luzern. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the hotel's convenient location, which offers easy access to the beautiful Old Town of Lucerne. With regard to your feedback on our lift, we would like to clarify that our main lift can accommodate up to 5 people with luggage, depending on their size. For larger groups of 40–50 people, it may take some time for everyone to reach their respective floors. We therefore recommend using the staircase as an alternative, especially during busy times. As a hotel with over 100 years of history, we are committed to blending modern comforts with the unique charm that defines us. Our key system is one example of this, as it helps us to maintain our distinctive atmosphere. We also have intentionally kept the number of electrical fittings in the rooms to a minimum. In line with this, we also provide a complimentary tea station with hot water and tea bags for all guests to use at any time.We understand that the power setup in our rooms may differ from what you are used to. It may take a moment to get used to this. We hope the guests are prepared for our socket types. Should they require assistance, adaptors are available free of charge from reception throughout your stay.We regret that the raised lid in front of your room and bathroom did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your feedback and will certainly take it into account when planning future renovations. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again on your next trip to Lucerne.Warm regards,Thomas Hostettler, Direction
