    Become a Princess for a Night in Lucerne

    A fairy tale adventure into sheer luxury. This castle is in a stunning location looking down over beautiful Lucerne. The staff were helpful and friendly and completely unpretentious. My room was exquisitely decorated with no expense spared and using the bath and shower with Molton Brown products felt like a trip to a spa, without leaving my room. I felt welcome and appreciated and never in any way as if I was not wealthy enough to be staying there! Ordering a taxi was simple at reception and was 24 CH FR to the train station. The view over the city was exhilarating from the carefully place easy chair and table. Worth a visit to feel like a Queen.     As a solo female traveller watch out

    I would like to share my experience as it might be useful for solo traveling women. While the hotel, views and the restaurant are really nice, I experienced 2 very unfortunate situations. I was arriving to the hotel around 7PM and was taking the funicular. The drive was all good and I was quite happy to discover the hotel has outdoor elevator to get from the funicular higher up. It was in total dark though, but I was still thinking it's Switzerland, it's okay. The elevator first didn't want to come, then when it arrived and the door opened I got a proper shock: 2 young boys were totally drugged in the elevator, one lying on the floor with pants down, the second barely standing looking completely spaced out. I got super scared, luckily the door closed and they drove away. But then I had to carry my luggage up the stairs, which was at the time good 30kg as I was staying in Swiss for 2,5weeks. When I arrived to the hotel I was trying to explain to the stuff what happened, first they seemed to not understand then they said they will send someone to check (I don't know if they did). The next day I was coming back around 8PM from my day trip and now I faced the next situation on the funicular. 2 really weird looking men were trying to forcefully open the furnicular door, I kept pressing the button for the door to close. Luckily the door did close and I drove away with the funicular. After these 2 situations I took a taxi when I was leaving the hotel as I was too scared to use any of these facilities again.As I said at the beginning, the hotel itself is very nice. But as a solo traveling woman with a bigger size luggage I would never book it again due to safety reasons. I'm really glad nothing happened to me, but I really wouldn't want to try my luck next time.     A gorgeous hotel.

    We were there over Christmas so we did the two booked dinners with set menus on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Both were very expensive and unfortunately I didn’t enjoy a lot of the Christmas Day menu (I don’t like caviar or truffle). I should have looked into this more when booking. I am sure those with a more defined palette would have loved it. It was just disappointing given how expensive it was.We had drinks at the bar area a couple of afternoons and I had the best negroni I have ever had.Breakfast was your usual buffet. There isn’t a kettle in the room however we called reception and they delivered one immediately.The room was a good size however the coffee table is too big and another chair would have been more useful. Perhaps even more space for a suitcase.The bathroom was an excellent size.Overall it is a stunning hotel with gorgeous views. The staff were all lovely.     Beautiful inside and out

    A beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting! Perched high above the city and lake of Lucerne, Chateau Gutsch rightfully commands such a prominent post. As picturesque as it is from the bottom, the experience from within is incredible.I arrived at night and saw the city lights, but was truly breath taken when I opened my curtains in the morning to an incredible view of Lake Lucerne.Friendly staff, a beautiful property, and a unique experience — stay here!!
