    The amazingly comfortable rooms, the service, the views - all were outstanding. The location was perfect for walking all around the city to see the sights and learn about Lucerne. The morning started with a delicious breakfast buffet and “to order” omelets. We definitely recommend staying here, but we know you’ll be sad to leave.     Could have been perfect, but it wasn't.

    My family and I have traveled both domestically and internationally using the fine hotel and resort recommendations of the American Express platinum travel business program, along with its' Hotel Collection recommendations.The Hotel Schweizerhof was a recommended hotel.On May 22nd we checked into the hotel after first confirming on a hotel app that not only were standard upgrades currently available (i.e., lake facing rather than City facing), but the rates were lower than we had prepaid. Upon asking for the standard Amex upgrade amenity, we were told that the hotel was fully committed, thus it was not available, nor would the amenity of an early check-in be made available. When I challenged these statements as patently false and asked to speak with a manager, the manager on duty begrudgingly upgraded my husband and I to a lake facing room, but did not permit an early check-in. No explanation was offered to explain the dissembling we had just experienced. This was the first negative Amex Platinum hotel collection experience we had in over 30 years. Needless to say, the sour experience tainted our stay, which was unfortunate given that the balance of the hotel staff were lovely.American Express should remove this hotel from its' Hotel Collection group.     Great location, nice restaurant and nice room as well. Easy city to navigate and location is great to walk and see the sights of Luzern. Staff was friendly and the buffet breakfast was also very nice. Nice bar with piano as well. Staff was friendly and answered all of our questions and offered recommendations for things to do and restaurants to eat at.
