  One-nighter in Lugano

  04 Jun 2026

Only spent a night here so I did not check out the gym. Location was about a 20 minute walk from the lakefront & attractions. The immediate vicinity of the hotel did not have anything entertaining or scenic.Room size was generous & bed was comfortable. The shower was in a tub with a high step-up & it took awhile to figure out the dials for hot/cold water and rain/handheld shower. Usual amenities but no ironHeard some noises at different times during the night from other guests, which made me think of poor insulation...?Bar & restaurant area was welcoming; breakfast buffet was just adequate. Kudos to the friendly & amusing staff

Good value hotel with spacious rooms and nice breakfast

  26 Apr 2026

I stayed here twice in two different years, and both times the experience was quite good. The room was spacious and clean. They now also give you a bottle of water that you can refill on each floor, which I found convenient.Breakfast had a nice variety as well, including salmon and different cheeses.Overall, it is a nice hotel for the price and for its star rating.

  Used to be great

  17 Jun 2025

More than a dozen stays at Novotel Lugano, but more than 3 years after my last visit, my recent stay was the worst.Rooms are spacious and clean. Worst is mattress, it is now impossible to sleep without back pain. Used to be just fine.Breakfast used to be great, it is now subpar, even by Novotel standards. Orange juice is a shame (same with grapefruit) compared to the juices selection that used to be on offer. Hot drinks used to be made to order, now you have two extremely noisy coffee makers…Pastries selection is now maybe 20% of what it used to be. Too bad.Plus side, is the restaurant that is much better than it used to be, both for lunch and dinner.Cost cutting pushed too far. Won’t come back. , Guest Services / Front Office at Novotel Lugano Paradiso, responded to this review Dear Jetro, thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review and for your long-standing loyalty to Novotel Lugano Paradiso over the years. We are truly sorry to read that your most recent stay did not meet the standards you experienced in the past and that it led to disappointment. While we are pleased to know that you still found the rooms spacious and clean, we sincerely regret your comments regarding the mattress comfort. Quality sleep is essential, and your feedback will be shared with our management and housekeeping teams for careful review. We are equally sorry to learn that the breakfast experience did not live up to your previous expectations. Your remarks regarding juice quality, hot beverage service, and the reduced pastry selection are taken very seriously. We understand how noticeable these changes can be for a returning guest and regret that they negatively impacted your stay.On a positive note, we appreciate your kind words about the restaurant, and we are glad to hear that lunch and dinner met and even exceeded your expectations. We regret that your experience has led you to decide not to return, and we truly appreciate your honesty. Feedback like yours is invaluable and helps us reflect on where improvements are needed.Kind regards,Novotel Lugano Paradiso

Nice hotel spoilt by terrible hospitality

  17 May 2025

I've had the good fortune to stay in many many Novotels around the world from Conference hotels to more character filled establishments . This is a nice hotel ...spoilt by the worst hospitality standard I've encountered in 40 years. Management hides behind the staff , sending them forward with ridiculous edicts. The staff are petrified and repeat ''But the manager says'' in response to any query . I spend a lot of nights in ALL hotels (Diamond status) and am pleased to say the nights before and after this stay in a Conference Hotel and an Airport Hotel demonstrated that hospitality is alive and well in the group and that its not the bricks and mortar alone that make for a decent stay . , Guest Services / Front Office at Novotel Lugano Paradiso, responded to this review Dear Guest, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your long-standing loyalty to the ALL – Accor Live Limitless program. We are truly sorry to read that your experience at Novotel Lugano Paradiso fell so far short of your expectations and, above all, of the standards you have come to know across the brand. While we appreciate your recognition of the hotel itself, we are deeply concerned by your comments regarding hospitality and management approach. What you describe does not reflect the values of Novotel nor the service culture we strive to uphold. Our team members should feel empowered to assist guests with confidence and care, not constrained or uncomfortable in doing so.Please be assured that your feedback will be taken very seriously and shared with senior management. Constructive criticism from experienced and loyal guests such as yourself is essential for us to identify shortcomings and take meaningful corrective action. We regret that your stay left such a negative impression, especially given your extensive experience within the Accor portfolio, and we sincerely apologize for the disappointment caused.Kind regards,Novotel Lugano Paradiso
