Location

This hotel is located at the entrance to the village of Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland. The centre and the train station are just 500 metres away. Mountain railways, serving the various ski areas in the region, can be found about 1 km from the hotel.

Facility

The holiday apartments were built in 1903. 2 single rooms and 47 double rooms are located on 4 storeys and can be reached by a lift. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service. Wireless internet access in public areas (for a fee) allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. Additional amenities include a TV room and a playroom. Parking spaces are available to guests travelling by car. Other services include medical assistance, an alarm call service, a laundry service and a coin-operated laundry. A bicycle hire service gives guests the opportunity to explore the surrounding area independently.

Rooms

Central heating ensures that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. Guests can enjoy the mountain view from a balcony or terrace. Separate bedrooms are available. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. A fully-equipped kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave, tea/coffee station and dishwasher, as well as a complete set of utensils, is a standard feature. There is also a washing machine, an ironing set and a tumble dryer. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio, a plug adapter and WiFi (no extra charge) provide all the essentials for a comfortable holiday. A telephone is provided in the bathrooms. As a special feature, bathrooms are also stocked with cosmetic products and a selection of towels. The complex has family rooms and 49 non-smoking rooms.

Sport

Excellent swimming awaits guests at the indoor pool. A sun terrace is a great place to while away the hours. The complex's location is particularly ideal for skiers. Ski passes are available locally. For an additional fee, guests can also choose from badminton, darts and squash. A sauna and solarium are available in the wellness area.

Meals

Dining facilities include a dining room, a breakfast room, a café and a bar. The non-smoking restaurant provides high chairs for children. Catering options include bed and breakfast and half board. A continental breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. The hotel offers a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

    Old and tired accommodation but amazing views.

    Grindlewald is an expensive place to stay, but this was the most pricey hotel in our entire trip around 5 European countries. And sadly the most understated! The room was old and shabby but the view was spectacular. The shower was powerful and the breakfast was fine, albeit limited in terms of options. Overall a disappointment considering the price.

    We spent 1 night in the main building, which is quite old. The location is a few minutes walk from the center of town. The wifi worked fine. They have free car parking. Our room was very dated. The ceiling was barely 2m tall. Beds were very soft, pillows were flat like pancakes. The bathroom was old. The biggest problem was the noise. The floors all squeaked all the time. It was impossible to move or walk anywhere in the building without loud squeaks. We heard every movement of everyone in the rooms above, below & beside us, all night long.     Staff were friendly, room was nice and the view from our room was excellent. Breakfast was fine, although a little limited.     Stayed here for a night during my Switzerland trip with parents, overall a great place for the price i had paid. Agoda messed up my booking in terms of the room type but Mercel from the front desk was super kind and helpful and was able to give us room not only in the same building but on the same floor as well. In terms of room, its like a typical swiss chalet, super clean and they have a good breakfast spread. Location is near the train station but the path is a slight downhill from the train station so it might become challenging if you are walking to the hotel till bags or have elderly with you. The bus stopp "Truffersbrunnen" ist just 50 meters from the hotel. If a porter is available, we can also drive you up to the station for CHF 10.00 per ride.     What more could we ask for?

    Stayed for 2 nights and we truly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is strategically located very close to town and train station, just a shy 10-minute walk from center. Getting there and back to forth to station / town was highly convenient. The staff was friendly, from everyone working at the desk and restaurant throughout the morning and evening. We enjoyed the encounters we had with them. The room was not luxurious but adequate with all the basic necessities. The heating was good considering we visited during the cold winter weather.Last but not least, the best thing about this hotel was THE VIEW. We booked specifically for the mountain view so my wife and I can enjoy our slow morning enjoying it. I can definitely say that it was worth it. The view from the room was picturesque and we could not ask for a better Grindelwald's experience.Will definitely be back to Jungfrau Lodge on our next visit (soon)!
