Great Hotel in the heart of Zermatt and what a view!

We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary at the Hotel Excelsior. What a fabulous Hotel in the heart of Zermatt. We had a lovely room with balcony overlooking the mighty Matterhorn - definitely recommend going for a Matterhorn view room. The Hotel has a cosy bar for pre dinner drinks and the Restaurant was superb, we stayed for 4 nights with half board and the food was excellent. Rooms were serviced daily and very clean.

While i was eating my food this worker was just standing in the doorway looking at us. This makes me feel very uneasy.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff wonderful. My husband fell in the ice and they went above and beyond to help us

The hotel is in a good location. Front desk isn’t always staffed so makes check in or finding someone to talk to difficult. Also breakfast doesn’t get restocked, so make sure you get there early before the big tour groups come down; otherwise it’s slim pickings. Room had an odd odor.

Hotel location is excellent for views of the Matterhorn. Check-in was smooth. Rooms are spacious with a balcony at least for our choice. Comfortable beds and chairs. Nothing to complain. We dined there. Good menu with reasonable prices. We enjoyed.
