  Fabulous Summer holiday

  We stayed at the Hotel Butterfly for a week. This is a super hotel in a great location, minutes from the main pedestrianised area but very quiet. The staff, without exception, provided excellent professional service whilst being friendly and welcoming. In particular we would like to mention Raffaele, Nicole, Cristian, Enrique and Helia. The hotel is spotlessly clean and rooms have everything you need for a comfortable stay. We stayed on a half board basis and the food was fabulous. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

  Could do better!

  Lovely hotel with friendly staff. However, if you dare to ask for water with your evening meal, you’ll be charged for it. It spoils the experience, so will be looking for an alternative this summer and next winter as a matter of principle.

  Great place to stay in Zermatt

  I want to address the previous negative review, since I am now staying at the hotel. Nothing could be further from the true. Hotel is located 3 minutes of walking distance from the train station. Reception was very nice, quick and helpful. The hotel itself is very cozy, clean and with the updated bathroom. Breakfast is excellent. Overall great value for the money.Leo

  Hotel Butterfly is excellently located within walking distance of the train station and one block from the main shopping street. The hotel has breakfast and afternoon snack included in the price. They also provide free transportation to the train station if you have luggage. There is both a sauna and a steam room. Our room had a balcony looking at the mountains. The staff were helpful and often saw to our needs without us even asking. I wholeheartedly recommend you stay here!

  One of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had.

  We stayed at Hotel Butterfly, Zermatt for two nights and paid around $780 USD, yet received service that was completely unacceptable.From arrival, the blonde receptionist (Reneta, I believe) was rude, unwelcoming, and dismissive. No greeting, no explanation of the hotel, no basic courtesy. Despite emailing in advance about the shuttle, none was sent, forcing us to carry four heavy bags uphill. When questioned, her response was a careless “Did you tell us?” — followed by no apology or solution.We were given a 6th-floor room when the lift only goes to the 5th, with no assistance or instructions. Every interaction with reception was met with attitude, as if guests were a burden.To make things worse, there was no proper Wi-Fi connectivity at all, which is unacceptable in this day and age - especially at this price point.Breakfast was mediocre, staff were unfriendly, and the location is nothing special. There is absolutely nothing positive or memorable about this property.We have traveled across the world and have never encountered hospitality this demeaning. This experience has genuinely tainted our stay, and it is not something we will forget.I would never recommend this hotel to friends or family - whether in Italy, Switzerland, or anywhere else. Management seriously needs to re-evaluate their staff’s behavior, professionalism, and suitability for guest-facing roles. Guests deserve respect. Basic courtesy is not optional.A truly disappointing and shameful experience.
