    Disrupted sleep from extremely LOUD AC unit

    We had two rooms booked. On the last night of our stay, in our son’s room, the air conditioner was SO noisy he and his girlfriend could not sleep. Every hour they were awoken by a horrible clanging racket. They turned it off and it still made noise. After complaining in the morning we were given a nominal 10% off the last night, not adequate for such a disrupted sleep. The “General Manager” would not discuss with us in person. Extremely unprofessional, leaving the hard working staff at the front to relay the message. Cannot recommend. Shame, ruined what had been a great stay.

    Stayed for 2 nights, we had 2 rooms as my wife and I traveled with a friend to Zurich for the Christmas markets. Hotel is very centrally located, excellent for exploring Zurich. We had a double room and single room on the 4th floor, spacious and quirky as the floor sloped in both rooms. Breakfast was included in the deal, excellent in the Deli La Pinseria on the ground floor, very friendly staff. We had a drink in the bar/restaurant IGNIV, the bar gets very busy. Free coffee, tea and snacks in the reception area, again, very friendly staff. We had a wonderful time in Zurich

    This hotel , although not cheap (nothing is in Zurich) is PERFECTLY situated in the old town area. Rooms are nice and modernized. Old town is mostly a pedestrian area so at night it is very quiet. Hotel staff was great and the small deli attached to the hotel is fervent for light breakfast or lunch.     We chose this hotel based mainly of TA reviews and its proximity to the Hauptbahnhof. After wasting some 28 Swiss francs on a cab upon arrival at the train station on our first day, we made the walk. Even with a rolling suitcase, it was just 15 minutes most of it very pleasant along the river. The hotel's location proved perfect for us. It was a 7 minute walk to the Kunsthaus Museum and there were excellent restaurants all within a 3- to 10-minute walk. Shopping on the Bahnhofstrasse is just beyond the train station and there's much to see and buy. There is also an outstanding store selling Swiss-made items that's 5-minutes away.Our #207 room at the rear of the hotel proved very quiet. Although the room is spacious, there is no minibar in it or other rooms. Guests are directed to a minibar in the reception. This means you can't keep a water bottle etc cold and convenient. The wall socket in which one can plug a charger is very inconveniently located beneath a little shelf that serves as a bedside table on either side of the bed. The sockets couldn't be placed any worse. There is one uncomfortable wooden desk chair.We opted for the included breakfast and it was very nice and the staff all friendly both there and on the desk.This is one of 61 registered historic hotels in Switzerland with a history that dates back to the 15th century or so but who's counting. I would say the staff, -- we especially enjoyed Paula and Viktor -- the quiet, and the location are the top advantages here.

    Old City Charm - Zurich’s Goldcoast

    Outstanding location with eastern shore, old city situation, walking distance to stations, 20m to tram & river. Cool little bar and restaurant downstairs and 24/7 front desk. Breakfast was fresh, good variety and great coffee. Elevator is slow - but who cares🤷. We stayed in Room 310. No view, but opening windows to inner roof space, downy pillows & doonas.
