  Centrally located hotel marred by mismanagement

  Despite having booked over 3 months ago, we were given a lower category rooms which were tad smaller for us a family. The bathrooms and rooms stank of sewer like smell for which they gave us room freshener sprays. One of the room air cooling didn’t work at all and even the replacement ventilator fan couldn’t make it comfortable in the unusually hot summer nights. Buffet breakfast was the saving grace besides the central location.   We had a tiny room. The bed didn’t have a top sheet and blanket. Instead it was some kind of combined top sheet and blanket that laid on top of the bed. It was like sleeping under the top half of a sleeping bag with your feet sticking out. The bathroom was right next to the bed. It had a frosted sliding glass door that you could reach out and touch from the bed. The toilet was on the other side of the door, and let’s just say you could hear everything that was going on in there. Very gross and unpleasant. The hotel and room were clean but I definitely would not stay here again. And definitely not worth the money.   We arrived around lunchtime by Train from Zurich Airport via Zurich main train station The hotel is situated down a side street in the old town. We checked in ok and went to our room I went to use the coffee machine and found it not working when plugged in it only worked when a certain light was left on I reported this to reception they sent someone up and they couldn't get it to work either They tried it in a different room it worked. We had further problems with the rooms electrics later when I plugged in my Cpap machine it worked with a light on but when you turned the light off nothing electrical worked .This was the only issue we had Everything in the room was adequate including in the bathroom and very cleanBreakfast was very varied with Continental style and hot buffet The staff were very accommodating and helpful in directions to get to places like the Lake a short walk from the hotelAs we only stayed one night before catching a train to Chur

  We recently stayed at the Rutli before joining the Glacier Express. The hotel is very central and was easy to get to from the main train station. Our room was perfect, beds were very comfortable and clean. We had breakfast and the selection was plentiful, to even cooking fresh eggs etc to order. Nice touch with the sweets on reception, couldn’t resist!! The staff were brilliant, polite and professional. My husband left an expensive item behind and when I contacted them they immediately posted the item back, paying the postage which was very kind. All in all I can highly recommend staying here and wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

  Stayed here for our last night of our Swiss Alpine tour. Conveniently located near to the railways station and City Centre. A lovely large room with a sofa, comfy chairs and tea/coffee facilities. Staff very helpful, breakfast plentiful. Reasonably priced too.
