  We stayed here from May 4–5, and this hotel was a very pleasant surprise.The location is very good. It’s easily accessible from Taipei Main Station (the airport train/metro hub), either around an 18-minute walk or just one stop on the red metro line to Shuanglian Station, followed by a short walk. The area felt lively but not noisy, safe, and very convenient. One of the biggest highlights is that the hotel is right next to Ningxia Night Market, which is fantastic if you enjoy local food, especially seafood and oyster dishes. There are also several convenience stores nearby, including 7-Eleven, plus other shops and pharmacies.Check-in is done via a self-service machine, which might feel a little impersonal, but fortunately, a staff member was present when we arrived and kindly allowed us to check in about 30 minutes early, which the machine itself would not have allowed.We only stayed for one night, but our room was a very pleasant surprise overall. Despite booking a higher-category room, it did not have a window, which was fine for one night but would probably be less ideal for a longer stay. Because of that setup, some noise from the neighboring room could be heard through the wall where a window might normally be.The room itself was clean, spacious enough, and comfortable. The bed was comfortable, air conditioning worked exactly as expected, and there was both a fridge and TV in the room. Water pressure was excellent, and hot water was available immediately. The only odd thing was the power outlets—surprisingly, only one was really practical to use.One strange detail: my partner found a clump of hair under the pillow, which felt very out of place considering how clean the rest of the room was. Hopefully just an unfortunate oversight.Breakfast was mostly Asian-style, which may not suit everyone. The selection was not huge, but everything was regularly replenished, and it was perfectly sufficient for us. Seating was not an issue during our visit, although a children’s sports group arrived shortly after us, and I imagine it could have become crowded then.Overall, this hotel offered very good value for money, especially considering the location and overall quality. I would definitely recommend it and would happily stay here again.

  Simple accommodation in great location

  Location is excellent, right next to Ning Xia evening market and right on a busy street with food venders lined up. 10 mins walk to the closest MRT. The hostel part accommodation was ok, the room had 4 beds (2 bunks), however since the hotel rooms are all on the 2rd floor, both girls bathroom and boys bathroom are next to each other which is different from my previous Taiwan hostel experience. I did not have any issue while going to the restroom in the middle of the night though. Bedding is comfy but the bed setup is very simple with light and charging plug. There is a storage bin at your head end which is not that big, might be good for a carryon. Breakfast was only ok, nothing to rave about. Service was also ok, they offer free lugguage storage for check in and check out so you can drop off lugguage and go about your day.

  Benefits of a hotel while paying for a hostel

  Hostel room located in a hotel. Everything was fairly clean, and amenities fairly standard. A bit of a walk to the MRT station, but close to a night market, which was nice to visit at night. Room type: Bed in mixed room of 4Lockers • Size: Almost close to carry on size (though mine's overstuffed, so it was hard for me to confirm)Bed • Light in bunk: Y • Outlet by/in bunk: Y • Area to hang towel: Y • Bunk curtains: Y, but need both you and your neighbor to fully close your curtains for both people to have their private space • Set up bedding yourself: N • Break down bedding yourself: NBathrooms • Number: Shared amongst the floor, though I never had issues with it being too busy (perhaps the hotel rooms have their own bathroom inside them?) • Combined toilet/shower: N • Hair Dryers: YCommon Area: Small area with a bench and table seatingAmenities • Included breakfast: N, but paid breakfast was available • Laundry: Y, coin operatedNotes: There is a very small gym area in the same room as the restaurant area, which contains 1 treadmill, 1 cycle, 1 bench, and a rolling bar and balls. Top opportunities for improvement: Update curtains so that each bed can fully enclose itself in curtains without their neighbor also closing their curtains. Provide shower sandals.   Very bad room maintenance and no immediate action.

  The light bulb kept blinking for whole night and called up the reception to check. But eventually receptionist advised us to on the light and only able to help in next day when the in-house technician available. How to sleep in a room with blinking light like disco?   First time in Taipei

  CU Hotel is located a block away from Ningxia Night Market and that’s one of the reasons why it appealed to us. The hotel is also conveniently near Taipei Main Station. Since the city has zero traffic, you are assured that it only takes 10mins by cab, to get to Main Station from the hotel.Buffet breakfast is available and the minibar at the ground floor is open (free flowing!) at 6:30pm.
