  Disappointing stay

  I hate to give poor reviews but my recent stay has not been good. The hotel itself is located in a good location, across the Ximending night market. Rooms are small and not much place to move around. Reception staff attitude leave much to be desired. The hotel placed an unstable wobbly 3 legged ceramic table in a tight spot where you need to walk around it to sit down. I accidentally bumped it and it fell to the carpeted floor (yes carpet!) and broke in half. It was an accident waiting to happen. Staff won't listen to any explanation and have to remind us (and our travel companions) every single day that we have to pay the exorbitant penalty. It ruined an otherwise good stay.

  My East Dragon Hotel experience

  I was there for 2 nights. Next to a night market. Great location for me to buy local goodies to bring home. Famous breakfast and famous beef noodles across the road. Close to MRT station, easy to get Uber too. Bottled drinking water provided. quiet rooms no noise from the night market next door. Small lift, but I am only on second floor so I walk the stairs.

  At the doorsteps of ximending

  Chose the hotel because of its proximity to ximending, where food is not a problem any time of the day, even late at night. This is important as our father in law is traveling with us and he in his 70s, and there are times when he choose to go back hotel to rest while we proceed with our itinerary. So proximity to eateries is important.

  Don’t let the pictures deceive you. The uploaded pictures does not correspond to the actual facility. One word can describe this place “Vintage”. The front desk will try to nickel and dime you even when you have a confirmed reservation through the various sites. Your wallet will get a lot lighter for extra bed, extra person, and extra lighting fixture for your room. The rooms are very dark with limited lighting. The room looks like a 1920 smoking club room, very dimly lite. The limited lighting could be a strategy to hide the vintage decor and old water paper. There is no smoking at the facility, but cigarettes smoke can be smell throughout the floor. The hallways has a rancid stench. The air conditioner works whenever it wants. The temperature control is just a facet. The hallway is colder than the room. You can leave your door open to stay cool. That is, if you do not mind the rancid stench or mosquitoes. The elevator has a 8 person 550 kg limit on. On numerous occasions, two average adults will set off the overweight alarm. The female front desk receptionist is very rude and unprofessional. She would rush guests down to the main lobby with nonstop phone calls for problems she has caused. The beds are extra firm. If you are a side sleeper, you will need extra padding. It feels more like a gymnasium pad than a bed. The pillows get flattened as soon as you lay your head on it.

Easy to find a breakfast spot just outside. Can book tours also and be picked up at lobby. Short walk to public transport.
