The whole hotel is very clean and neat. Beddings are in excellent condition. Receptionists are not smiling but they are accommodating and fast in check-in/check-out procedure. Good location where there are restaurants , massage parlor, hair salon , train station & shopping stores nearby. We enjoyed out stay.

    Very comfortable hotel

    rating07 Nov 2024

The hotel is close to a metro station which is a transfer station for two different lines which is very convenient. The room itself was very spacious with places to sit, fridge, desk, safe etc. the lift and hallways are quiet. The bathroom is large and quite well appointed. Staff are nice, friendly and helpful. Why 4 stars? A couple of things - the bath leaked onto the bathroom floor when filling it - not a lot but enough to be annoying. The shower pressure on hot was so powerful as to almost give a headache. Breakfast was nicely set out with plenty of choice to suit all tastes. There was always plenty of it and the staff in this area were very obliging. It is not situated in a particularly scenic area of Taipei so don’t expect views. On a Sunday evening we found it difficult to get an evening meal in the immediate surrounds but when we returned (for four nights) we had done our research and found many nice places to eat in Taipei, including Michelin starred. Book in advance for restaurants to avoid disappointment. The night markets were also easy to access from the hotel’s position via the metro.

Have stayed many times now. Like a European boutique hotel, probably the only such place in Taipei. As far as negatives almost all of the rooms have basically no view, windows do not open, front desk staff often seems unfriendly, and they removed the nice gym room sometime during the last few years.

    A great experience

A Chinese take on 5 star which was a great experience. The staff were especially friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The room was well stocked with high quality Chinese essentials and extras. We will stay there again when we next visit Taiwan.

Deteriorated room and disappointing breakfast that tastes like flight meal

    rating18 Mar 2024

I had high expectation with evergreen due to its high rating, but I was so disappointed in the end. After my booking I have written to the hotel, informing them that I need a quiet room with deep cleaning and no weird smell at all. I was assigned 1201. The room was indeed quiet. 1. The hotel lobby did not smell as nice what reviews mentioned. It smelled like cheap air freshener. The corridor outside the room, however smells much betters 2. As nobody contacted me about my arrival time, I messaged them myself. When I entered the room, the aircon was not on. and the room smells of mildew. I had to switch on the aircon to a super low temperature and asked the stuff to bring a fragrance reed diffuser, same as their corridor. After a few hours, the smell went away. 3. The room furnitures have deteriorated so much. There were chips, scratches everywhere, on the cabinet door, tv console, chairs, door frame, taps and shower head. I was unprepared for this condition at all.4. There was a small piece of paper shred on the bar counter when I entered.5. The lobby stuff are a bit mechanical. There was no one asking me whether I needed a taxi throughout my stay. There were some good points in the room though. The water pressure was fantastic. shampoo smelled great. Bed linen and towels were clean. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast. I specially chose a Taiwanese hotel so I could have ala carte Taiwanese breakfast as some of the YouTube videos suggested. I got a weird western breakfast, with sprinkle of Chinese dishes (braised minced pork and almond milk) and Japanese appetisers. I guessed the guests were more international and traditional, but I suspected more that they were trying to reduce cost. The breakfast looks like a flight meal with the worst inedible croissant I have ever tasted in all hotels I stayed at. Overall, Evergreen desperately needs a revamp and did not deserve the high rating it had.
