  Used to be better

  Green World Hotel is lacking. A few years ago when I visited, the hotel was clean and professional. Recently over the years, the staff have noticeably lacked in maintaining the rooms clean. This time, when I visited, there were stains on the bedsheets, on the towels, and on the floor.

  The hotel is better than I expected after seeing some of the negative comments. The room was basic but provides everything I needed, it was clean and the staff were attentive to my requests. The metro is right out front, the entrance is around the back from the main road.

  Don’t want to say more. HORRIBLE. Book at your own risk. For an area with so many hotels, why even bother wth this hotel? LevelOf service - in one word -BAD. Other hotels in area, better service and better facilities, just search around the area.

  We have always stayed in this hotel whenever we visit Taipei for its convenience in terms of location, transport and food since its opening in 2016.The hotel now looked dated. Their breakfast used to be very good with wide selections but now the varieties are limited. Quite disappointed.We still want to give them a chance and hope things will improve in our next trip there.

  We booked three rooms for a week's stay and our group agreed  unanimously that Green World Zhongxiao is overrated, does not live up to their self-rated 4☆ label, and their quality and service is worse than some 3☆ hotels and budget hostels. Some of the staff, from front desk to housekeeping, seem to have a morale problem and do not take pride in their jobs. Good things first:• unbeatable location at Zhongxiao Dunhua MRT Station Exit 3 with elevators in both directions.• arrived in clean but empty rooms without any toiletries.• japanese bidet toilet, strong water pressure. • free WiFi.Green World Zhong Xiao is the FIRST so called 4☆ hotel we've been to in Taiwan that has the following unique features:• front desk staff tells guests that housekeeping service is on alternate days instead of on daily basis.• guests are NOT supposed to flush toilet paper down the toilet bowl to avoid clogging.• guests have to pick up amenities and toiletries (e.g. dental kits, disposable razors, soap, bedroom slippers, etc) from the rack beside the front desk on "need basis" so as to "protect the environment".• check out time is strictly at 11am sharp. It is the hotel's policy to bill guests who check out late at a rate of NT$300++ per hour per room. (Daylight robbery?!) We didn't like this hotel's practice of selling their rooms bundled with compulsory self-service breakfast. While our request to be allotted rooms on the same floor was not met, we understood the constraints. But housekeeping is a BASIC service any self respecting hotel should provide daily.The room attendants cleared the trash and put two bottles of water in each room daily. That's all.  We remembered front desk staff telling us that rooms will be cleaned only on ALTERNATE days. WHAT IS MOST SHOCKING: × Beds were not made up at all THROUGHOUT our week-long stay. We switched on the "make up room" sign everyday, but we returned daily to find the pillows and bed covers just as we left them in the morning. x The floor was NOT vacuumed at all throughout our week long stay. Cracker crumbs that dropped on the floor remained there throughout our stay.x Used bath towels were left untouched on the stainless steel bar and were NOT replaced throughout our stay. We get the impression that the housekeeping staff and front desk staff have morale problems, merely doing the minimum and are not service oriented. The front desk staff do not make eye contact with guests who return to the hotel. They continue chatting among themselves or are glued to their cellphones. When we returned about 10pm one night, the soap compartment on the amenity rack facing the front desk was empty, but nobody bothered to replenish the bar soap. The hotel is rather hypocritical about being eco-friendly. When the amenities are not stocked in bathrooms inside guest rooms, it is for pro-environment reasons, but eco-friendliness takes a backseat with disposable crockery and cutlery being used for the self-service breakfast.  The breakfast experience (compulsory as it is sold with the rooms as package deal) is underwhelming at best. The dining hall resembles a canteen in an army camp, a dormitory, or a school. After giving the staff in charge the breakfast coupon, guest has to take a tray, pick up the disposable plates/bowls and cutlery. Make his own coffee, toast his own bread and clear the table, return the tray at a counter. Buns, sliced bread, three types of breakfast cereal, hardboiled eggs, three types of fruits, plain congee with condiments are the "fixed items" available daily at the breakfast bar.   For a week long stay like ours, the breakfast is repetitive and not worth the effort. If you arrive after 9am, popular items like the cut fruits and soya milk are gone and not replenished. TIP:  Do avoid the airport transfer service at Green World Zhong Xiao, which is priced at NT$1,300++. We booked our transfer on arrival at Tao Yuan Airport for only NT$1,000 one way (same price for the trip back to Tao Yuan Airport). Other than the location, there is NOTHING about our experience at Green World Zhong Xiao that makes us want to return for a second time. Once bitten, forever shy. That said, the hotel's location will continue to attract other tourists. But there are many better (and more economical) hotel choices available in the Da'an District. To each his own.
