  Good value for money

  Good value for money. Lodges are clean, but not extra large. The main asset is the pool, clean and well designed (2 levels). Breakfast is simple but good. Menu offers options for European or local cuisines. Staff is nice.

  Everything is a hassle with this place. Just stay somewhere else

  Everything is less than mediocre. Everything on the outside a pool areas looks fine but beneath the surface is where you see the problems. Most (but not all) the staff are not friendly. No one smiles and they seem like you are disturbing them. Breakfast was actually ok but it’s correct that they don’t check when coffee or food items are not finished and you have to tell them. The biggest problems are the rooms. I was staying with a friend so we requested two single beds. It they only have mattresses for double beds and not two single beds. So what did they do? The just left the base without a mattress. Had to ask twice before this was resolved. Had to agree to share a double bed. The water to the toilet wouldn’t flow at night, so couldn’t flush. Had to use bill a bucket in the shower at night. This happened twice. And now as i’m typing this review we are going for dinner in an hour but can’t shower because water isn’t coming out of the shower. Did asked them to have a look and fix it. Someone came over but there hurry

  Very beautiful and calm hotel located on the splendid beach of Zanzibar.

  Very beautiful and calm hotel located on the splendid beach of Zanzibar. Very friendly staff, nice and very clean cottages, not less that 3 immense swimming pools. We found the breakfast a little average and a little too much the same during our 5 days stay.

  The setting is idyllic- little beach houses all situated around beautiful swimming pools, feet in the sand the moment you step out the door, beach just 20 meters away.We booked through our travel agent a year and a half ago, this was supposed to be our last stop after 2 weeks of safari. We were excited to see our beautiful little house overlooking the ocean with a private swimming pool - the view outside didn’t disappoint. The house had space for 4 of us - 2 single beds on the ground floor and a double bed on the floor above. Unfortunately the AC was not strong enough to keep good temperature - it didn’t change the temperature on the second floor and it was really hot above and cold below. I missed normal storage space and the toiletries were not of a good standard, towels were cleaned every day but they were not anymore the beautiful white colour but more grey-yellow.The outside surroundings made up for the inside situation so we were not particularly bothered. Unfortunately three days after we arrived we were informed that they need to make an emergency renovation to the private swimming pool of the house next door and that would affect our swimming pool so they needed to move us to a new hotel.I loved the premises of the hotel, the proximity to the beach; the feeling that it is not crowded, although all rooms were full; the moment you step on the beach there is action - someone wants to sell you a bracelet, offer you a trip; you can walk on the beach and there is always something to see/do; there is a nice club on the pier next door with a DJ; Paje and Jambiani are close by and you can walk on the beach to reach them.The restaurant can be better, although the staff is trying hard, but there are opportunities - the hot water for tea was placed in the pot for coffee resulting in brown water; chipped plastic pots; more variety at breakfast and most importantly - better presented. As a whole the food is ok, not great, but not perfect. At lunch and dinner you can order a-la-crate and the quality is good.If i am to visit Zanzibar again, i would choose another are of Zanzibar instead of Paje/Jambiani. Don;t get me wrong - beaches are beautiful, although with a big tide difference, it just feels that this is far away from other points of interest and it takes one and a half hour with a taxi (always a taxi) to get to where you want to be (Paje and Jambiani excluded).

  Fun Beach Hotel was a lovely place to stay. Rooms and communal areas in the hotel were all fantastic. Games room was very cool! Food and drinks were excellent and thoroughly enjoyed. Most staff were friendly and welcoming. Other staff were disinterested and 'cold'. This made us feel uncomfortable at times, especially when there was a couple of mix ups with our bills. Be aware of the location as most of our experiences were at the other side of the island and it was about 1hr 15min drive to get there each day. I would recommend this hotel to others for the facilities and food.
