    Do not recommend

    rating20 Mar 2026

We were extremely disappointed with our stay. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the accommodation did not match what was advertised online.During our stay, we had to change rooms three times due to ongoing issues. Basic facilities were simply not up to standard: there was no hot water, the air conditioning was so noisy it was impossible to use at night, and a mosquito net – which was clearly listed as included – was not provided. The bed was of very poor quality and made loud creaking noises, making it difficult to get any proper rest. The sheets were covered in stains. The beach area was poorly maintained and looked nothing like the photos shown online, which we found very misleading.Additionally, there was very limited availability of food and drinks, with many items on the menu not being available. The hotel also lacked any atmosphere, as we appeared to be the only guests staying, which made the experience feel uncomfortable and disappointing. We raised these issues during our stay, but they were not resolved in a satisfactory way. As a result, we decided to leave early after only 3 nights, despite having booked 11 nights.Because of this, we were forced to book another hotel at our own expense in order to salvage our holiday, which resulted in significant additional costs.Do not expect any form of compensation or willingness to resolve issues from the hotel. Overall, this was a very frustrating and disappointing experience, and we would strongly advise others to avoid staying here.

Best holidays ever - Zanzibar 2025

    rating14 Jul 2025

From the very moment we entered the hotel, we felt truly cared for.Check-in was quick and smooth, without any unnecessary delays. As a welcome treat, we were offered a delicious glass of freshly squeezed pineapple juice — such a lovely gesture! Our room was spotless — big thanks to the amazing housekeeping ladies, especially Ms. Zuwena, a hardworking and kind woman whose smile brightened every guest’s day.The air conditioning and ceiling fan worked perfectly, which was a huge relief for us tourists not used to the African climate. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, and the newly renovated rooms are sure to please future guests. The food? Absolutely fantastic!Fresh, tasty, and always satisfying. Breakfast was made to order as soon as we arrived at the restaurant, which speaks volumes about the freshness and attention to each guest’s preferences. Whether it was an English breakfast with eggs, beans, and sausages, or pancakes with Nutella or jam — everything was delicious.Dinner was served à la carte, with a full course menu including soup, appetizer, salad, main dish, and dessert. Our favorites — the ones we already miss at home — were definitely: chicken cream soup, spring rolls, samosas, chicken with fries, fish with fries, shrimp, and warm pineapple fritters for dessert. Pure heaven! The garden and surroundings of the hotel were beautifully maintained.Adding to the charm were the monkeys playfully jumping around the hotel bungalows. They were calm, respectful, and truly felt like a special part of the experience — just like in nearby Jozani Forest. While the rooms and food were excellent, the people made the biggest impact. They are the heart of the hotel and made our holiday unforgettable.Leading them is the wonderful Manager Sourav — a true professional and a kind, approachable person. His presence and daily involvement ensured that everything ran smoothly and that each guest felt seen, heard, and welcomed. The entire team is cheerful, helpful, and always smiling. Special thanks to two amazing waiters who filled every meal with positive energy and gave us great tips on what to see around the island. They were friendly, humble, and clearly passionate about their work.We also want to give a huge shout-out to the amazing Masai security guards — Jon and Johan. They made us feel very safe and cared for. Their kindness and support will stay in our hearts for a long time.Any downsides?Only one — our week here flew by way too fast!Honestly, there isn’t a single thing we could complain about.Heartfelt thanks to the entire staff for such a beautiful stay.Warm greetings from Krystian and Magda from Poland — you’ll always have a special place in our hearts. We wish you all the best, and we’ll definitely be back. See you again soon! ❤️

    Stay away from Hakuna Majiwe

    rating14 Jul 2025

I don’t usually write reviews, but this experience was so bad I feel like I need to warn others. This is the definition of a catfish hotel. The photos online are way more beautiful and very misleading. In reality the place is rundown and neglected. The rooms are old, dirty and poorly maintained. There is no glass in the windows, only mosquito nets, so the AC doesn’t work and the whole room is damp. One of the beds had bloodstains on the sheets when we arrived. The manager is extremely unhelpful. After two horrible nights we decided to leave early. When we requested a partial refund he flat out refused. Zero customer service. The food is terrible, the breakfast was very limited. Overall, one of the worst hotels we ever stayed in. Save yourself the disappointment en book somewhere else. For this price you can get a waaaay better hotel.

    Friendly Staff but Poor Facilitiew

    rating28 Jan 2025

The staff were friendly but the accommodation was very poor. We had a lodge facing the beach and while we didn’t expect luxury, we did expect it to be reasonable. Our main problem was that it was impossible to sleep because:1. The bed was hard frame and protruded from the mattress so I was unable to get into it without first standing on a chair or stepping onto the chair to get out of it. I am of reasonable height.2. The ceiling fan and air conditioning were old and exceptionally noisy … it was impossible to sleep with either one or both of them turned on. Consequently, it was very hot at night.3. A light at the edge of the private beach was turned on at night and faced our lodge, shining into our room and keeping it light all night. There was no blind to pull at the window to block out the light. The bathroom was basic and very old and worn. The food was OK but very limited choice. The beach is a public beach so there are many people walking up and down selling various things. The sea is beautifully warm but you have to be careful because there are many people wind surfing or learning how to windsurf and you need to be able to avoid them. We did not go into the pool as I wasn’t entirely sure how clean it would be given the standard of our room. It’s a shame the hotel seems to have deteriorated so much as I imagine it could have been lovely once but I definitely would not recommend it now.
