Located on the unspoilt East Coast of Zanzibar, the hotel is approximately 65 km from Zanzibar town and airport.

Wonderful Stay in a Great Resort

We enjoyed very much our apartment in front of the pool. At checkout we were even offered an.extended stay as our flight was only in the evening what we highly appreciated. Where to start… DO NOT book this resort. My partner and I had just been throughout Africa staying at a range of different accommodation and Karafuu was our “treat” stay to celebrate our honeymoon and honestly it was the worst accommodation we had stayed in and far from the cheapest… most accommodation we had along our stay gave us a bottle of champagne to enjoy as it was our honeymoon, not Karafuu… even though we booked with a honeymoon package. The photos were taken many years ago with all facilities being run down. We got pestered if we decided to relax near the beach by locals trying to sell the same old stuff/ asking for money. You even get stalked by hotel staff who try to sell you packages to go over priced snorkelling and for tours. They had got my number and started calling and texting it constantly over the first 3 days of our stay when we said we will come to them when we decide what we want to do. The Buffett was not of great quality and you get stalked by cats (I like cats but hey not when they start fighting right next to your feet when you’re trying to eat). Some staff were amazing and others not so good… it was obvious the management have let the place go with not maintaining their facilities and therefore lacking the pride of their resort trickling into the quality of staff. Perfect resort if you want to just chill out.

Beautiful resort. Great food. Great staff. Everyone is super friendly and really good at their job. The spa was fantastic. The animation team, especially Jackson, was superb. Unfortunately the resort is far away from everything, so you need to hire a car to do anything outside the resort . That’s the only minus point I would give. Amazing stay – highly recommended!

Our stay was absolutely amazing! The hotel made a great impression – beautiful, well-maintained rooms and very comfortable overall.The food was delicious, with a wide variety of fresh options every day. The drinks were also fantastic – really tasty and well prepared. And you definitely have to try the ice cream – it was so good!One of the highlights were the evenings by the beach – we had two nights with Masai performances, which were an unforgettable experience and created a truly unique atmosphere.The hotel is a bit far from the airport, but it didn’t bother us at all. It’s also located near a village that you can visit, which is a nice experience. The waiters were wonderful – very friendly and attentive.The pool was also excellent – clean, spacious, and perfect for relaxing. There were different animations organized every day, so there was always something to do.I highly recommend this place – perfect for a great holiday! Very strange experience

We tried to arrange a late check-out today, but the experience was quite disappointing. Instead of a standard hotel procedure, it turned into a negotiation. The price went from $120 to $100 (including lunch) only after we were asked 'how much we want to pay.'To be honest, we felt like we were at a market in Dar es Salaam. We didn't expect to have to haggle over prices in a 5-star hotel.
