    Really nice

    rating10 Jan 2023

I had a superior room and it was fantastic: 2 bathrooms 2 rooms and ocean view. The hotel was good and so was the breakfast. The staff was very kind and efficient, when we had a problem in a couple of my group's rooms they immediately solved the situation by changing rooms themselves! Really appreciated!

    HORRIBLE

    rating25 Aug 2021

We were very excited that this hotel was on our itinerary because this would be the only hotel with a pool that we were staying at during our trip. The location was difficult to find. From the photos, it looked like the hotel is on beach level but it is actually up a steep staircase from the beach. When we finally found it, the first thing we noticed was that there was no water in the pool. There went our excitement. Before checking in, I told them that we were going to find another place to stay because what we saw in person was not what was presented in the photos online nor did the website or staff mention anything about the pool being closed prior to our arrival. They convinced us to stay with an upgraded room and offered to pay for us to use a neighboring hotel's pool so we agreed. My son was earlier bit by a stray dog so on our arrival, we had a Tanzanian friend with us who was helping us with the difficult situation and guiding us as we needed to travel to a hospital to get him care.We were hungry after checking in and wished to eat at the restaurant. We were told that the restaurant was under construction so we had to eat in our room. We waited 2 hours for the food to come. When the food arrived, it was very basic, definitely not worth a 2 hour wait or the price. Our friend stayed with us for dinner. After eating, the hotel staff asked us to have him leave or said we could pay an extra $50 per night for him to stay. With my son not feeling well and us needing someone to be with us to go to the hospital and the fact that the pool and restaurant were out of service, we again decided that we wanted to leave the hotel to find another more comfortable place. I told them I understand the extra charge for our friend to stay but that we have decided it is best to just look for other accommodations. We started to pack up or things and at that point chaos ensued. They proceeded to tell me that we CANNOT leave the hotel as we have a reservation and NEED to stay there. I had already paid for for 2 nights online months prior, so they had my money and there was absolutely no reason why we needed to stay there.Once we had all of our belongings packed and ready to go, we walked toward the lobby to leave. The staff LOCKED every exit door and surrounded us and refused to let us out of the hotel. They told me that my kids and I had to stay the night and that our friend should go out to sleep ON THE STREET and we could see him in the morning! By this time, it was late, close to midnight. My son was feeling sick and I was worried about him having a fever after the dog bite. I begged them to let us go so we could bring him to the hospital. There were 2 ladies that proceeded to LAUGH at me and tell me whether I like it or not, we WILL be staying at their hotel. I begged the security guard to let us out of the door and he just brushed it off and said he didn't understand English. They held us hostage for OVER AN HOUR refusing to let us leave. I was finally able to get a hold of airbnb customer service and they helped to cancel my reservation and refund my money. Once the reservation was cancelled, we were finally "allowed" to leave the premises. It was now 1:00AM and my kids were still awake. I hope no other children will ever have to go through the nightmare these people put my kids through. On our way out, the ladies continued to laugh at what they did to us and shouted disrespectful names at me as we walked away. These people are not human. They are evil and heartless. I am so thankful that we had a local friend with us who helped us finally get to the hospital so my son could receive care for the dog bite.I have been traveling with my children for 14 years and this was by far the worst experience we have ever been through at a hotel.
