    People as good as gold

    rating17 Mar 2026

The people at Seyyida are good as gold. When I forgot my laptop bag (!!!) in the lobby, they called the driver who was taking me to another hotel at the beach and gave it to him to give to me when he picked me up later that weekend. When you have people like this where you are staying, almost nothing else matters (but the place is also lovely). Recommend 110%.

    UNDERWHELMING

    rating12 Feb 2026

I loved the location and my room was big and spacious. but when you request the staff for a water refill trust you will never see them again. Also the hotel phone lines don't work so you have to keep going down to remind them and still nobody attended to me. Also the have a large breakfast served on the rooftop with amazing views. The fruits were delicious but the rest of the breakfast was not. I also had to wait an hour and a half for my breakfast to arrive because apparently there were no more eggs left. and the staff casually said they are very busy that's why i have to wait. After the long wait it was already time for check out and the receptionist was reluctant to slightly extend check out time to allow me to pack even after i explained the issue. Worst stay in Zanzibar! The only friendly staff i met is the light guy at the reception who checked me in.

    Let down by customer service

    rating11 Feb 2026

This is a really nice hotel in a good location. The building itself has a lot of character although a bit rough around the edges. The bedroom was beautiful, and with a large bathroom. Safe facilities etc. Breakfast was good with a plate of fruit, pastries and a menu of hot food to chooses from. Here was the issue though. I booked an airport shuttle directly with the hotel for our late night flight into Zanzibar. It didn’t show up. I tried to call the hotel on 4 or 5 occasions but no answer. While this was going on all the taxis had left the airport. Only for a kind airport official who arranged us a taxi we would have been stranded. When we arrived at the hotel I questioned the receptionist why the shuttle hadnt picked us up. He basically shrugged his shoulders and said he must have forgot!! Anyway I sent a message to the hotel FAO the manager asking for an explanation. I never got a response. We had intended to have dinner in the hotel as we had read good reviews about it. Due to this unresolved issue and terrible customer service we took our business elsewhere. This is a nice hotel but just pray nothing goes wrong. Heads go very quickly into the sand. Therefore I wouldn’t recommend this accommodation.
