PERFECT HOTEL TO STAY IN BANGKOK ✨

    rating03 May 2026

We absolutely loved our stay at AETAS Lumpini ✨ The location was perfect, making it easy to explore the city, and having a mall right next door with tons of shopping options was such a bonus.Breakfast had a huge variety (you’ll definitely find something you love), and our room overlooked the Bangkok skyline — with a bathtub view that made it even more special 🛁🌆Honestly, such an incredible stay. Would 100% recommend if you’re visiting Bangkok!

Rooms could do with a little TLC

    rating24 Apr 2026

The Aetas Lumpini is located in the Lumpini area (obviously) of central Bangkok, in the shadows of Lumpini Park. It is easily accessible by road or by MRT (underground train) as the MRT station is just a couple of minutes’ walk away from the hotel. We stayed for one night at The Aetas in mid-April 2026 and had booked an Executive Club Premier Suite with B/F.We arrived at the hotel just after lunch but were able to check-in early as it was one of the Executive Club ‘perks’ (Early check-in & late check-out, if required). We were allocated a corner room on the 27th (top) floor of the hotel. On entering the room, we were quite impressed with both the size and facilities that greeted us. The room is quoted as being 70 sq.m. (A standard hotel room in most hotels is around 32 sq.m). Being a corner room, the views were dual aspect, although in this part of Bangkok, there isn’t a great deal to see in the immediate vicinity. Our room deal included a complimentary minibar (2 small bottles of beer/water/soft drinks plus milk and fruit juice in cartons). There were also some small Thai desserts/snacks in the room, as well as a small selection of Thai fresh fruits. After a short rest and refreshments we took a closer look at the room, including the corner double jacuzzi with great views. But to fully appreciate the view and take some photographs of the view, we had to raise the wooden blinds at the windows around the huge jacuzzi bath. After raising the blinds, we were not terribly impressed with what we saw. Most, if not all of the aluminum window frames were badly corroded and had clearly been repaired several times. Some were worse than others depending on their proximity to the jacuzzi bath. Some of the corroded frame pieces had fallen down onto the tiles below, but had not been cleaned up prior to us arriving at the room. It was also noticeable that the windows, not only in the bathroom, but the whole room, were in need of a clean – however, we understand that this is a major task for a high-rise hotel so turned a blind eye, and also to the inevitable corrosion on the window frames around the bathtub as we understand that this is a wet area. Before leaving the bathroom, we noticed the floor tiles were quite badly stained – probrably from limescale in the water which had been splashed by previous guests, but surely this could have been polished out at some stage? We could also see that one of the two washbasin taps was not fully secure, and sitting at a strange angle relative to the sink washbasin. We began to wonder if this room had been inspected prior to our occupancy?Coming out of the bathroom, we wanted to take some pictures of the view from the lounge window, towards Lumpini Park, but in doing so we passed several small insects on the walls of the lounge area – these appeared to be the common moth larva insects. Then, when pulling back the net curtains to take the pictures of the view, there were several threads showing from the net curtain which was damaged/torn at the base (see picture enclosed).Taking into account the rate charged for this type of room, we did feel it could have been presented better so that those all-important first impressions for the guests are nothing short of outstanding, but still – we decided to keep what we had found and seen to ourselves – and instead, go down to the executive lounge to enjoy the (included) Afternoon Tea set. We had seen the advertising for this set (800 baht ++) and were looking forward to some delicious cakes and pastries. Unfortunately, what we received was rather different from what we saw on the advertising sign, but the coffee was ok though. We did however feel that if we had paid the full advertised price (almost 1000 baht including taxes) for what was served to us – we would not have been too happy. After the ‘tea and cakes’ we went back to our room for a couple of hours rest and wanted to close the curtains to block out the sun and cool the room down. That’s when we found out that the large curtains do not close fully – they left a gap in the middle which was very annoying, especially as they were ‘blackout’ curtains, and we knew that when tomorrows sun rises – we will be awoken with sunshine pouring through the gap in the curtains. We informed the front desk who sent a ‘technician’ up to repair the curtains, but after 10-15 minutes, he told us that this was the best we were going to get, and that “all the hotel’s rooms are like this”.To us, this was an unacceptable response and when customers pay to stay in a hotel room, no matter what grade of room, we feel that everything in that room should be in good working order – and this was the latest in a catalogue of faults we had found in the room (and, so far had kept silent about) – but now it was time to inform the Front Desk of our mounting disappointment with the room we had been allocated. One of the Front Desk team senior members came up to the room and after showing her ALL the things we had found wrong in the room, she simply said “Oh my God!” And to be fair, she did seem genuinely surprised and shocked by what we had shown her.She arranged for us to move to an alternative room of a similar grade and it was obvious that this new room had been fully inspected before we occupied it (as should have the last one, but it clearly wasn’t). Despite what the hotel technician had (wrongly) told us – that “all the hotel room curtains are like the ones we had notified” – these ones DID actually close fully so it would seem that “All the hotel room curtains are NOT like that” - after all. This second room was much better and had obviously been checked prior to our occupancy, so hopefully those concerned can/will learn from the experience. The only slight problem we found in this new room, (and also in the previous room too) is that the toilet flushes very weak and it takes four or five flushes to fully clean the toilet after use. This comment is meant as a helpful comment and something that perhaps should be looked into by the maintenance team (And this time I WOULD believe him if he said “all the hotel toilets are like that”).Our room rate included complimentary evening drinks/cocktails in the Executive Club lounge (2 hrs duration) and came with a set serving of canapes too. The cocktails were well made and the beer available was either bottled or draught. The only slight downside is that we thought the lounge lacked any ambience, especially with there only being a handful of guests using it.There is a swimming pool at the hotel as well as a gym, apparently. We found the swimming pool but couldn’t find the gym – despite following all the direction signs which said it was close by to the sauna rooms.Breakfast was served (only) in the basement of the hotel (floor B1) and finishes at 11am. The staff working in there were very polite and cheerful and the selection of food and drinks available was more than adequate, although some items were a little cold having been sat there for (maybe) hours. You can choose where to sit in the breakfast dining room and unfortunately, we chose an area that was very dark and a bit spooky with grey and dark lifeless walls outside (due to it being in the basement) and (tip) could maybe do with some greenery or lighting to make it seem a little brighter.Hopefully the comments above can be used constructively and we took the time to write them so that it can help the hotel, not to criticize it. Overall, the stay was good (eventually) and as previous guests have commented, the best asset of this hotel is the staff (well, apart from the guy who fixes curtains, or doesn’t - as the case may be).Thank you for your hospitality.
