Location

This luxury hotel is situated by the Chao Phraya River and is located around 20 minutes walk from the city centre. New Road and Silom Road, with their diverse shopping facilities, as well as harbour can all be reached within a few minutes walk. The elevated railway (Saphan Taksin Station) can be reached within 3 minutes. Bangkok Airport is located around 27 km away (around a 45 minute journey by public transport).

Facility

72 suites, 24 apartments, 371 single rooms and 359 double rooms are available to guests in a 25-storey main building and a 16-storey auxiliary building. English-speaking staff at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day. Amenities include a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The complex has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities and a lift. A number of shops, including a souvenir shop, are great for shopping or just browsing. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Parking spaces are available to guests travelling by car. Other services include a 24-hour security service, a babysitting service, a childcare service, a car hire service, medical assistance, a transfer service, translation services, room service, an alarm call service, a laundry service, a hairdresser and a coin-operated laundry. Complimentary newspapers are available. A business centre with fax machine and projector is available.

Rooms

Rooms feature a kitchen and a bathroom. Air conditioning ensures comfortable temperatures. Guests can enjoy the view of the city from a balcony or terrace. All rooms are carpeted and include a double bed or a king-size bed. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Additional features include a refrigerator, a mini fridge and a tea/coffee station. There is also an ironing set and a trouser press. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio and WiFi (no extra charge) ensure optimal comfort. Slippers are included. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower and a bathtub. A hairdryer, a vanity mirror, bathrobes and a telephone are provided. As a special feature, bathrooms are also stocked with cosmetic products and a selection of towels. Wheelchair-friendly rooms with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms are also available. The hotel has family rooms, non-smoking rooms and 1 smoking room.

Sport

The pool complex ensures comfortable swimming with its soothing salt water and 2 outdoor pools. Guests can treat themselves to refreshing drinks at the poolside snack bar and a relaxing soak in the hot tub. A short break or an entire afternoon on the sun terrace, which features sun loungers and parasols, is time well spent. Active guests can enjoy tennis. Sports enthusiasts are also offered a wide range of indoor activities, including a gym, table tennis, squash, yoga and aerobics. Various wellness options are available at the complex, including a spa, a sauna, a steam bath, a beauty salon, massage treatments, anti-ageing treatments and a solarium. An entertainment programme and live music are also options for entertainment.

Meals

Dining facilities include a dining room, a breakfast room, a café and a bar. Guests can indulge their palates at the non-smoking restaurant, which features air conditioning and a separate area for smokers. For breakfast (continental), lunch, and dinner, guests serve themselves at the buffet or choose their favourite dishes from the à la carte options (for lunch and dinner). The menu also offers diet meals, gluten-free meals, vegetarian dishes and children's meals. The hotel also offers special catering options. The chefs prepare delicious specialities during the show cooking.

    First time to Thailand, three nights in Bangkok to start… I am the type of person to create a spreadsheet, review and compare every hotel then cross check against trip advisor and google review, compare prices across all platforms… you get the idea… I could not fault the Shangri-La Bangkok.. it started with the airport pick up in a Mercedes, to being whisked straight to our room instead of check-in at the front counter.. stayed in a Shangri-la wing horizon executive river view suite on the top level 25.. had drinks and canapés in the horizon club each evening which was nice.. Breakfast can be had on the ground level cafe with a large array of options or Horizon club which was a bit meh with the breakfast options..Great place to stay for your first time in Bangkok.. Book direct on their website as they have some good deals and use their app..     Tried the krungthep wing for the 1st time. Overall very good, a tad out dated but having a outside river balcony was nice in the evenings. Room service was excellent and super fast. The laundry cost was on another planet, 2 boxers 2 horts 2 t shirts $70AU. You do get one use free of the mini bar. But i still cant understand the price they charge for a Beer Chang 150 Baht, they are 33 Baht at the shop across the road. Thats a 350% mark up. Nothing wrong with making money but come on....     Lovely, but not quite the same in the Shangri-La Wing as our ‘old home’ in the Krungthep Wing

    We had a lovely six nights here in an Executive River View Suite King; this was located on the 8th floor. It was a good suite but being on a corner, the view from the bedroom and one from the lounge area was mostly of solar panels. The bed was extremely comfortable, plenty of good storage (had to request extra hangers), and good linens. The bathroom was also a good size with an excellent shower, two sinks, toilet, bath and great toiletries.We had access to the Horizon Club Lounge, on the 24th floor, for excellent views, food drinks and staff. We met some staff from the Krungthep Wing Riverside Lounge on previous visits and were extremely well looked after by two main teams: Ammy, Eye, Poy, Maprang, Qi and Wanisa and Oui, Ploy, Yi, and Mind. We also ate in Next2 and around the pool (from Next2) and both times, the food and service was excellent.We have been coming to stay at the Shangri La since early 2000’s and always select to stay in the Krungthep Wing. This is the second time we have had to stay in the Shangri-La Wing due to various closures in the Krungthep Wing. We hope to return in the future, but this will depend on the total functionality of the Krungthep Wing.
