Questions About a “Quieter Upgrade” Remain Unanswered

    rating26 May 2026

I stayed at The Raweekanlaya Bangkok Wellness Cuisine Resort for three nights from late March to early April 2026.I chose this hotel because it had been recommended to me by a travel agency as a “wellness hotel.” Having stayed at wellness-oriented boutique hotels across Asia, I was expecting a quiet and relaxing environment.Originally, I had booked an Executive Room facing the road and canal. However, upon check-in, the hotel informed me that the road-side rooms could be noisy and that I had therefore been upgraded to a Deluxe Room in a quieter location.Unfortunately, the room I was actually assigned was located close to the restaurant circulation area and kitchen operations. The sounds of dishes, people passing by, and staff activities were clearly audible. Shortly after entering the room, I requested a room change due to the noise. The hotel later acknowledged this noise issue in subsequent email correspondence. In addition, the first room felt extremely enclosed to me. At the time, I perceived it as a space where I could hardly recognize the presence of any window opening to the outside. In fact, on the day of check-in, I exchanged messages with my travel agent through LINE (a widely used messaging application in Japan). In those messages, I wrote that “the new room was much better because it had a window.” This was not a statement created later for the purpose of a complaint; it was a real-time message sent on the day of check-in. It shows how I perceived the first room at that time. After returning home, I contacted the hotel to ask why a room near the restaurant and kitchen area had been presented as a “quieter upgrade,” and I also requested a detailed explanation regarding the first room. The hotel subsequently sent me photographs of the room. Those photographs showed a large curtained opening. If such a large window or glass opening had in fact been present as shown in the photographs, it would normally be difficult not to notice it upon entering the room. This created a significant discrepancy between my actual experience and the real-time message I had sent to my travel agent on the day of check-in. Because of this discrepancy, I requested a floor plan, which the hotel promptly provided.I then asked a friend of mine, who is an architect, to review both the photographs and the floor plan. According to his assessment, there appeared to be differences between the opening structures shown in the photographs and those shown on the floor plan, making it difficult to conclude that the two fully matched. He also commented that if a room truly contained an opening as large as the one shown in the photographs, it would actually be difficult for a guest to perceive the room as having no window.I therefore asked the hotel to explain why such a significant discrepancy existed between my actual experience and the photographs and floor plan provided later by the hotel. I received no reply.I then sent the hotel a summary of our correspondence to date, together with an English translation of the real-time LINE messages exchanged on the day of check-in, and escalated the matter to the General Manager. I received no response. Some members of the staff were kind and helpful, and the room I was moved to was quieter than the first one.Nevertheless, for a property that promotes itself as a wellness-oriented and tranquil retreat, I was left with serious concerns regarding both the initial room assignment and the explanations provided afterward.Based on my stay, I felt that the property functioned more as a venue for weddings and events than as a true wellness resort.I am leaving this record for the benefit of future guests, particularly those who place a high value on tranquility and a genuine wellness environment. The photographs and floor plans attached to this review were provided by the hotel itself.

Quiet place with lovely garden but very small rooms

    rating08 Mar 2026

Great breakfast, nice garden area and a quiet place within a very noisy city. BUT: the rooms are too expansive as they are 2* standard. Extremely small 19sqm with 5sqm bathroom included and one open rack with 5 hangers at the price of a hotel with 33sqm downtown! We lost a lot of time getting to various places in the Siam area as 3km would take 45min due to subway construction along the road. The best way is to take the ferry from the nearby Thewet pier heading towards the What Poh area or even until The Asiatique riverfront. Unfortunately, the ferries only operate until 05:30/ 06:00pm ( until sunset) so you need a grab car back to the hotel ( 200- 270Baht). The hotel pool is half the size as it appears on the photos, so 3-4 guests sitting in it makes you not to join them.Very helpful front office staff, same day washing no problem but staff at restaurant hardly understands English and the dinner options are a bit " difficult " for the majority of European tourists . We were the only guests the evening we went there. 45 min. to BKK airport.

Tropical oasis in Old Town Bangkok, great location & value; boutique feel, minor breakfast downside.

    rating12 Feb 2026

We spent two wonderful nights at Raweekanlaya Hotel Bangkok and genuinely loved our stay. It truly feels like a small tropical oasis right in the heart of Bangkok’s Old Town. The moment you step inside, you leave the busy city behind and enter a peaceful, green sanctuary. The location is excellent — close to the river and within walking distance of a ferry pier, making it an ideal base for exploring Bangkok’s main hotspots. Getting around is easy and convenient. The staff are incredibly kind and warm. The hotel itself is small, charming, and intimate, which adds to the relaxed atmosphere. The swimming pool is refreshing and perfect after a hot day in the city. The rooms are very comfortable. Tip: book a Deluxe Room on the ground floor — it comes with a huge bed, a good bathroom, and strong air conditioning, which is essential in Bangkok’s climate.Although the hotel officially carries a five-star rating, in experience it feels more like a high-quality four-star boutique hotel — and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. It offers charm, atmosphere and personal service rather than large-scale luxury, which we actually appreciated. The only downside is the restaurant. Breakfast is somewhat limited, and the service there could be more attentive. That said, this is a minor point compared to everything the hotel does well.Overall, this is a fantastic little gem in the heart of Bangkok, offered at a very sharp price. Truly great value for money — we would definitely return.

    Amazing Stay

    rating02 Jan 2026

In the chaos of Bangkok, this was the most amazing calming hotel we could have chosen. Mina, Paul and Bye were so hospitable and couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome. Mina provided the most relaxing massage the first day we arrived which was the best we’ve ever had. The food was incredible - probably the best we have had our whole holiday. Incredibly relaxing hotel and we couldn’t recommend more. This hotel is great to give you a balance of a calm holiday while being 20 minutes walk to the centre, you can also enjoy the liveliness. Thank you SO much Ausslis K, Other at The Raweekanlaya Bangkok, responded to this review Thank you for the appreciative comments regarding your stay at The Raweekanlaya Bangkok Wellness Cuisine Resort and for sharing the beautiful pictures. Deception !!

    rating27 Dec 2025

I booked this hotel expecting a 5-star experience, but what I experienced was far from it.I was initially placed in a very poor room, full of mosquitoes. I reported this issue before going out, and a staff member was polite, acknowledged the problem, and told me he would notify the team and that it would be taken care of. Unfortunately, nothing was done. When I returned, the room was in the exact same condition, and I eventually had to kill the mosquitoes with my own hands, which is completely unacceptable for a hotel claiming to be 5-star.On top of that, the first room was extremely noisy. I was placed next to a family with children screaming constantly and throwing things against the walls, making it impossible to rest.I was then moved to a second room, but the situation did not improve. This room was also very noisy, with a loud machine running 24/7 nearby, and during the night, there were cats fighting outside, which completely prevented me from sleeping. When I asked to change rooms, I was told it could be done the next morning, but there was no coordination between the evening staff and the morning team, forcing me to explain everything all over again. Although I did eventually change rooms, the experience had already been seriously affected. The facilities and equipment are old and outdated, far from what you would expect from a luxury hotel. There was no welcome drink or any meaningful attention to detail, which was surprising for a hotel marketed as 5-star.The only positive aspect of this stay was the breakfast staff and the person who helped with the luggage, who were kind, professional, and attentive. Unfortunately, their efforts were not enough to compensate for the overall experience.I spent two extremely bad nights and barely slept. This hotel does not deliver a 5-star experience and feels misleading compared to what is advertised. Ausslis K, Other at The Raweekanlaya Bangkok, responded to this review The Raweekanlaya Bangkok Wellness Cuisine Resort has been partially rebuilt and some are still preserved to date back to the reign of King Rama VI. The Raweekanlaya Bangkok Wellness Cuisine Resort Building, Krung Kasem Road, in the heart of the city, is an old house built during the reign of King Rama VI. and King Rama VI was originally a residence of His Royal Highness. We have several types of rooms and some do not have a great view, as this is a restored building which we have kept the original character. The concept is to enable guests to experience the heritage of the building.Thank you for taking the time to write your review that we have been reading with the utmost attention. I am genuinely sorry to read that our services did not match your expectations. I will address this with the team and their corresponding in order to enhance those areas in order to avoid any such re-occurrence. Furthermore, we do hope that this experience will not deter you from returning to our hotel in the future.Best regards, Pakhin K.Rooms Division Manager
