  Horrible staff and smelly rooms

  Just do yourself a favor and go with another hotel. Staff are not interested in helping, and when they do help they do so very poorly and with a hostile attitude. We didnt have wifi in our rooms as promised. Just dont go here.

  Affordable hostel with a quite good location

  Spent 4 nights in The Secret Service hostel with some of my friends. The hostel is quite cheap and it's near e.g. the Grand Palace and some other sights. The area around the hostel is popular among tourists which was not always very pleasant since the price level of food and other goods was higher and some of the tourists were very loud during the nights when they were partying. The hostel itself had decent-sized rooms and quite clean bathrooms. There was no window in our room and the walls were painted in grey so it wasn't very cozy. The hostel staff was not the friendliest but spoke English quite well.

  I liked the Place, spacious rooms and nice staff. Nice bathroom and the layout of the hostel is cool. It's located just outside of Khao San Road and it was very quite, which is nice. The staff were helpful and overall, it was a very pleasant stay.

  HOSTILE STAFF AND SEWAGE SMELL

  This hostel is fine, the beds are clean and location is good, but other than that I couldn't find many positives during our stay. We stayed in a side kick room, the bathroom smelt strongly of sewage whenever you turned the light on because of the dirty extractor, there was no lid to cover the toilet system our towels had holes in and it could have been cleaner.This hostel describes itself as a quiet escape from Khao San road. But our room was not quiet, pulsing techno vibrated through our room until 4am every night. The staff are far from welcoming. When our friend arrived the day after us, she sat at reception while a man wandered around doing god knows what, we didn't even realise he was staff until he finally came to the desk and acknowledged her after a good 15 minutes.But worst of all when we checked out at 5.30am I made sure to get my passport back the night before (which was being used as a deposit) just incase the staff were no where to be seen. Once I dropped our key to reception in the morning the lady said 'well I have to check your room for damages first' NO 'how was your stay?' 'was the room ok?' or ANYTHING. I explained that I had got my passport last night and I had to go catch a flight, and she just said 'well what about the damages' followed by a patronising tut, as if I was stupid enough to think that I could just drop the key and leave. ASSUMING THAT YOUR GUESTS HAVE DONE DAMAGE TO THE ROOM AND SPEAKING TO THEM WITH A SHEER LACK OF CARE OR HOSPITALITY ISN'T GOING TO GET THEM TO RETURN. I think this place needs to care less about interiors and making it seem 'COOL' and maybe take better care of their guests, or at least speak to them like they are paying for a room and that their happiness matters! thess k, General Manager at The Secret Service Hotel, responded to this review Please accept my sincere apology on behalf of our hotel.   I visited this hotel in April with my family as a first stop in Thailand. Very good location, nice staff and clean rooms. Plenty of street food, bars, restaurants around.
