    Quiet hotel in lovely location

    We stayed here as part of an Intrepid tour. Fabulous location with two options of piers to get ferry over to the tourist attractions. One taking you right to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho area. Great breakfast and food/drinks options nearby. Sitting right by the river for lovely views. Wang Lang market just around the corner. Staff very helpful and room clean and good size. Pool great for a dip after a warm day exploring. Very reasonable price for quiet but very handy location for seeing all the sights.     Fabulous, friendly welcome and “going the extra mile”

    We arrived at The Theatre Residence after an 11 hour flight, nearly 2 hours to get through the new TRAC registration, immigration and customs followed by an hour’s drive through a very busy Bangkok. It was so wonderful when we arrived at the hotel and the reception team - Pop, Film and Pat were able to organise a ready room AND make it available straight away as a complimentary gesture. We are pretty exhausted from our trip and the friendly welcome, refreshing drink, cold towel and “going the extra mile” has made the start of our holiday very special.     This is a lovely hotel right next to the Chai Phraya river, and right on the other side of the main attractions like the Grand Palace. It was just close enough to the main attractions and yet far enough to be tranquil and not be in the super busy areas. Their service and courteous behavior is absolutely top notch. Breakfast buffet was excellent and you get to enjoy it sitting right by the river. And when we notified them of the lack of vegetarian hot breakfast options in the buffet, they made two sumptuous vegetarian dishes just for us. Room/suite was very well appointed with all the amenities and exceptionally clean.Highly recommend it.     We highly recommend staying at this hotel for its fantastic location – it’s quiet yet very close to everything you need: two boat piers (Wat Rakhang Ferry, which crosses the river directly, and Prannok Pier for all the main boat lines), a local market (hardly any tourists, just a small, lively market used by locals with food, clothes, etc., plus a 7-Eleven), a beautiful temple (Chedi Wat Rakhang), and it’s literally a stone’s throw from the Grand Palace (just take the boat from Wat Rakhang straight across to Tha Chang).The room we were given was less charming than the pictures on the hotel’s website. It had white floor tiles, white walls, a rather loud and powerful air-conditioning unit, and it wasn’t as spotless as one might hope – but it was acceptable and did the job.The breakfast buffet is fairly basic from a European perspective, but still offers a reasonable selection: an egg station, bread (mainly white toast and slightly dry croissants), three types of fruit (usually dragon fruit, papaya and pineapple), a limited choice of cheese and ham, as well as several Asian-style breakfast dishes such as rice and noodle options.For lunch or dinner, we can really recommend the noodle shop next door (Trat Original Egg Noodle & Wonton) – freshly prepared, well-priced noodle dishes served right on the terrace with a fantastic river view.
