    Impeccable stay at Aksara Heritage

    rating30 May 2026

This is an outstanding property in every way. The staff are very friendly and helpful when needed. The location in the old city is perfect for exploring (sunday night market runs in front of hotel). Our deluxe room was spacious, tastefully decorated and a cool sanctuary when needed, and the pool and breakfast were both excellent. Thank you Aksara staff for a wonderful few days at your property. We loved Chiang Mai and wont hesitate to stay at your hotel when we return.

Lovely boutique hotel, very clean and peaceful. Excellent breakfast and a beautiful pool. Perfect location in the historic part of Chiang Mai. The staff is very kind and helpful. It’s not a large luxury hotel, but it’s perfect for a relaxing stay. Highly recommended!

Great hotel with an amazing staff

    rating28 Mar 2026

My stay at Aksara Heritage Hotel was truly exceptional and exceeded all expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with genuine warmth and professionalism that immediately set the tone for a memorable experience. What stood out the most was the incredibly helpful and attentive staff. Every team member went above and beyond to ensure my comfort, always greeting me with a smile and offering assistance before I even had to ask. Whether it was arranging day trips , recommending local attractions , or accommodating special requests, their dedication and kindness made a huge difference. The hotel itself beautifully blends traditional theme with modern comfort. The rooms are elegant, spacious, and thoughtfully designed, creating a peaceful and luxurious atmosphere. Every detail, from the décor to the cleanliness, reflects a high standard of care. The location is also perfect—close to many of Chiang Mai’s attractions, yet quiet enough to feel like a relaxing retreat.Overall, Aksara Heritage Hotel is not just a place to stay, but an experience defined by outstanding hospitality. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Chiang Mai, especially if you value service that truly makes you feel cared for.

    A Beautiful Hotel

    rating22 Mar 2026

We recently stayed at Aksara Heritage which is in a fantastic location within the Old City, just near Thae Pae Gate, right on the Sunday Night Walking Street Market, and easily accessible for everything in and around the Old City. Such a beautiful, elegantly designed hotel, with extremely comfortable rooms, beautiful gardens and a lovely pool. I loved the lighting, the beautiful lanterns used, and the hotel was just gorgeous in the evening all lit up. So, so pretty. Our room was lovely, not huge but spacious enough for us both without feeling crowded. I adore the Lanna-style architecture and very much appreciated the lovely design, and I enjoyed sitting on our small private balcony overlooking the pool to read, admiring Wat Phan On (the neighbouring temple), and loved hearing the monks chanting in the evening. The bed was so comfortable, with lovely linens and fluffy pillows. Our room had everything we needed, the usual amenities plus some snacks which were replenished daily. Housekeeping were marvelous, our room was always spotless and stocked up as needed. The only downside of the room was noise caused by neighbouring guests, as the concrete floors seem to inspire heavy-footed guests to clomp about, which can be quite disturbing during the early hours of the morning. Our room furniture had protective feet to stop it scraping on the floor whilst being moved but this didn’t seem to be in all rooms, and we were often disturbed by noise during the night which affected sleep quality. The pool was lovely, nice and cool, a perfect place to sit, read and relax during the heat of the afternoon with a cocktail in hand. Comfortable sun loungers and lots of towels too. We enjoyed the activities that the staff held by the pool in the afternoon too. A very nice touch.Reception, restaurant, table, pool, and bar service staff were wonderful. So attentive, friendly, and helpful. Breakfast was good, not a huge buffet, but plenty of choice as well as freshly cooked items and a daily special. I very much enjoyed the Thai desserts that were different each day and the fresh fruit. My only criticism is that in a city of fantastic coffee the coffee on offer wasn’t great, so it would be great to see an improvement here.We ate dinner at the hotel on the first night of our stay after a long day of travel, and the food was plentiful and fresh. We sat at the seating area at the front of the hotel and it is a great spot to sit and watch the world go by. One small suggestion would be to get rid of the strange music on loop in that area and replace it with something a little more relaxing. We have visited Chiang Mai a number of times and we love to spend our days and evenings walking around the city, finding new coffee shops (just so many to enjoy!), eat in local restaurants, and just enjoying having no time constraints. The hotel was in the perfect location for us to do this, and a beautiful haven to return to each afternoon/evening.One thing we didn’t like was that as the reception doors are often wide open that many random people just wandered in to the hotel via reception or via the walkway around the side of the building. On two separate occasions whilst we were enjoying the pool we had randoms come in and start taking photos/videos around/including us which made us rather uncomfortable. I did ask one man not to include us in his photos/videos and got a very rude response. I think it would be beneficial for this to be stopped, to protect not only the peace of residents but also for security and privacy. I note that these were not restaurant patrons, just passersby. As mentioned earlier, the staff were delightful, with one unfortunate exception. We sadly found Jimmy to be particularly rude, almost to a point that we felt he went out of his way to be rude to us alone. There were a couple of interactions that we had with him that weren’t pleasant, including when we returned from the Sunday Night Walking Street Market to have him stand in front of us as we were crossing through the packed outside restaurant area on our way up to our room and loudly tell us that the restaurant was full. This was said loud enough that other diners took notice and was a little embarrassing for us, especially as guests, not just potential diners. A very odd interaction, especially as we had already been in residence for some days and had interacted with him several times previously, and very unlike my years of experiencing Thai hospitality.Overall, Aksara Heritage is a lovely, comfortable hotel in a great location and we will definitely consider it for our next visit.
