This beach hotel is located on one of the most scenic islands in Thailand, surrounded by the Andaman Sea. Comprising beautiful white sand beaches and a myriad of small islands, Koh Lanta is fast becoming a destination of choice for those seeking a holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

Guests can enjoy the pleasant ambience of one of the 36 villas/houses. The following room categories are also available: 48 rooms and 12 suites. English-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are happy to answer any questions. A baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service are available. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. There are a number of shops as well. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Other services include a 24-hour security service, a babysitting service, a car hire service, a transfer service, room service, an alarm call service, a laundry service, a hairdresser, a coin-operated laundry and a hotel shuttle bus. Cyclists can make use of the bicycle storage area and hire service. A fax machine is available for guests' business needs.

Rooms are equipped with air conditioning and a fan. Some rooms have a balcony or terrace. Rooms have a double bed, a queen-size bed or a king-size bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. The kitchenette comes with a refrigerator, a mini fridge and a tea/coffee station. A telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a DVD player and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Slippers are included. A hairdryer and bathrobes are provided in the bathrooms, which include a shower and a bathtub. As a special feature, bathrooms are also stocked with cosmetic products and a selection of towels. The resort has family rooms and non-smoking rooms.

Whether more active or in need of rest and relaxation, guests can unwind at the pool complex, which includes a children's area and a total of 2 swimming pools. Refreshing drinks at the pool bar and a relaxing soak in the hot tub offer the perfect way to unwind. A terrace with sun loungers and parasols is available. The resort offers an extensive outdoor sport and leisure programme, which includes cycling/mountain biking, tennis and fishing. For a fee, guests can also enjoy beach volleyball and horse riding. A number of sports are available, including water sports such as catamaraning, kayaking and snorkelling. For a fee, guests can also enjoy canoeing, sailing and diving. Sport and leisure facilities at the resort include a gym, callisthenics and aerobics. There is a wellness area with a spa, a sauna, a steam bath, a beauty salon and a solarium. Subject to charge: massage treatments.

Various dining options are available, including a dining room, a breakfast room, a café and a bar. Guests can dine in a cosy atmosphere at the restaurant (smoking area and high chairs). Catering options include bed and breakfast, half board and full board. A generous breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. At lunch and dinner, guests can choose between à la carte and a set menu. Staff are also happy to provide children's meals.

    Being treated like a royalty at Royal Lanta

    I had a wonderful stay at Royal Lanta Resort. The room is beautifully designed in traditional Thai style with teak wood furniture. The atmosphere is peaceful, and everything is clean and well maintained. The hotel staff are friendly, polite, and trustworthy.I especially enjoyed the breakfast, particularly the fish porridge—the fish was very fresh and not fishy. There is also an affordable Thai massage service near the beach (300 baht/hour).The beach in front of the resort has soft, fine sand and clear water. The shoreline has a gentle slope, making it safe for children to swim and play. The swimming pool is also great for swimming and relaxing in the sun. The sunset is stunning and perfect for photos.

    Extremely run down, very unkept, unbothered staff

    Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed with this hotel, it’s so run down and not taken care off. There is multiple abandoned buildings towards the back of the resort and thus the gardens around the back of the resort are very dirty, unkept and home to lots of broken things. The rooms are equally dirty and everyday we had stains on the bedding which was disgusting. The bathroom needs a very good clean along with the rest of the resort. With all this broke, unkept , unclean and unhelpful staff the reception have the cheek to charge for a broken water bottle in the room. They have an extensive list in the rooms identifying the cost of broken, stolen items, even down to a broken teaspoon. It seems quite hypocritical seeing as the whole resort seems to be falling down slowly. There are about 10 sunbeds for the whole resort and peopleSeem to wake up at 6am to reserve them with their towels. Staff should put a stop to this. Zero umbrellas and 2 sun beds around the back pool which was a lovely shade of green when we arrived. The only good thing about this hotel is the location so you can escape everyday.

    Great staff, lovely location, very helpful, sorted any problems immediately. In the process of upgrading the buildings which is good. Nut the manager was most helpful. Looking forward to coming back again soon.

    Very friendly and attentive staff. They use WhatsApp with the guests so if you see something that needs attention you can send them a message and they'll see to it very quickly. The breakfast is standard for Thailand, you'll know what I mean if you've been here long enough. There is an omelette stand which is decent. Coffee machine is good but so slow so can cause a bottleneck at breakfast.The room types are vastly different.The cheapest is pool view twin. They can push the beds together if needed. These rooms are dated but everything works well enough. Just be aware that there are stairs and no elevator. For an extra £30 a night I was able to upgrade my parents room to a garden bungalow. These are individual cabins that are situated between reception and the beach. They are beautiful and well maintained so well worth considering if it's within your budget.As mentioned before the staff are great (especially the manager, Nut) and the hotel is scheduled to be renovated this year and reopened in November 2026. We're looking forward to coming back after the renovation is complete.
