Run down shabby with the bathroom from hell

    rating05 Mar 2026

We arrived at night , and saw some of the nice accommodation , I was very happy , but we were were not staying in any of those .. we were staying in the most awful bungalow , that apparently is due to be upgraded soon , but not soon enough for us , as we had already paid in full . If they had showcased the accommodation they expected us to stay in , they would not remain in business. The situation of the bungalow was just up from a demolished building with the view of rubble and broken tiles , over grown and not easy to walk over to the beach beyond. The curtains did not fit they were attached with various hooks & pins not providing any coverage and haphazard , an off white in colour and and translucent ( no black out ) , the furniture was old and broken the soft furnishing , were disgusting with a foul odour , no bedside tables . A makeshift kitchen next to the bathroom from hell ! The member staff who took us to it , did not put any lights on , which after viewing it throughly I can only assume she was ashamed , it was not fit for purpose . And it bore no resemblance to what was on offer on Booking.com . We could not stay there , the next day we returned to speak with office staff and showed them the photos I had taken ., they said there was no other rooms available . After showing the manager the photos I asked , if she was on holiday here would she like to share the photos with her family & friends ...no reply We got our money refunded but that was not a good start to our holiday. After we collected our luggage to move to another place , they promptly re advertised it on B.C but not as it really looks, they give the impression you are staying in clean modern rooms beware.

    First impressions are important

    rating16 Jun 2025

First impressions are important, the curtains were broken and the bathroom was a shower room not separate from sink and toilet. The path to the beach was full of weeds, old tires and construction stuff. To be fair, we were offered an upgrade to a more modern, smaller room across the street farther from the beach. We chose to stay in our older bungalow closest to the beach. It was very quiet. Their pool was refreshing! Ac was strong! Breakfast was limited - expresso machine, two cereals, juice, bread white or brown for toast and watermelon, pineapple. You can order eggs with bacon, ham etc. That’s it. However the staff were great, location good but the beach was questionable. The ocean water while warm was green and silty and not clear though beach was wide and sandy. But again the ocean to us was uninviting. It was nice to walk on the quiet street to have dinner, laundry and massage -nearest was very professional, without a lot of touristy things. There’s a temple nearby. I think next time we will stay on the other side of the island.

    Has potential

    rating24 Dec 2024

This place has the hallmarks of a lovely little resort, but just doesn’t somehow feel finished. My room was spacious, immaculate with a high quality bed and bathroom, but with bare walls, only bright overhead lighting and zero character. Adding some bedside lights, some art on the walls and a small rug would make it feel like the good mid-range place it should be. I hope this gets addressed as a few little touches could make this place really excellent. Friendly and helpful staff, fab quiet location on the beach within five mins walk of bars, restaurants and shops. Recommend.

    Tranquil Spot

    rating30 Jan 2023

Perched in rm 120 overlooking the Gulf just metres away from my 2nd floor balcony, this is where you want to be for an intimate ocean beach experience. Large shady tree in front provided welcome relief from afternoon sun. Great spot to enjoy morning tea, reading, internet browsing, happy hr. (Good WiFi throughout). The narrow beach is raked/cleaned daily. The sea was clear most days; depth drops off fairly quickly and, at 26/27C, ideal for swimming! The on-grounds smallish pool was kept immaculate, although located uncomfortably close for my liking to the facing ‘beach front’ rooms (so no sense of privacy). The room itself was spacious, bright & modern. No ornamentation. No drawer storage for clothing. A bit Spartan. I complained about the hardness of the bed mattress, so the kind & cheerful housekeeping staff added a 2.5 cm padding cover, which helped. Roomy washroom with push-open window; glassed-in shower stall had excellent hot water pressure. TV was useless since the channel menu is very limited; no BBC, Al Jazeera, CNN, etc.On arrival Nov. 14, I negotiated an inclusive breakfast into my 26-night price w. the gracious manager, Pom, who also met & transferred me from the airport. At the time the hotel was undergoing expansion construction which included a bar/dining area and professional kitchen. Now that that work is complete the breakfast deficiencies I experienced -- cramped seating, virtually no selection variation, undrinkable coffee, bland unhealthy white bread -- presumably have been -- or soon will be -- rectified. (This experience brought my stay rating down a star.) If you opt for a non-incl. breakfast room rate, the Village restaurant across the lane serves up a superior & cheaper one (at least did so back in December); for something more upscale, try nearby About Café.I'd stay at Baan Fah again. Mae Nam Village is quiet but lots of restaurants, pubs/bars & other amenities within easy walking distance, incl: outstanding café & roastery Hachiya, spacious well-organized gym, good hair salon across from About Café, fab massage shop Nan Maenam. If you crave more excitement & adventure, you can rent a motorbike from the mom & pop bike shop nearby the hotel. Final word of praise to the entire Baan Fah staff... with special kudos to the saintly Neung at reception who helped make my stay so agreeable.

    Highly recommend

    rating07 Apr 2020

We stayed nearly two weeks at the hotel and were surprised. The Junior suite is really big and has a nice balcony with a table and a matress for sitting. The room gets cleaned everyday and you get two bottles of water every day from the cleaning Lady for free. We chose breakfast twice during our stay at the hotel and were glad to do it. The waitress brings you hot meals if ordered and at the buffet you get all sorts of bread and fruits. Overall we can highly recommend to stay at the hotel because of the really nice and welcoming staff, the big room which is five meters away from the Beach and the good location in Maenam.
