Overall great value and we return often, but some issues this time

    rating22 Nov 2025

We stay at Samui Boat Lagoon every time we visit Koh Samui and have been coming here for several years. We love the private pool villas, the location, and the value—which is why we continue to return. During this stay, we noticed what appears to be a new hotel director who happened to be in the lobby when we checked in. He was friendly, and it does feel like some improvements have been made since our last visit.➕ Big improvement: Breakfast partnership with Café LucaPreviously, breakfast was optional and delivered to the villa as a fixed set menu with no choice. Now breakfast is included and served at Café Luca at the hotel entrance, with several items to choose from. The food was very good and the staff there were friendly. The downside: the café is closed on Sundays, so no breakfast is available then. Also, we had to ask how breakfast works because no one explained it at check-in.➖ Communication needs improvementThe staff communicates mainly through WhatsApp, which is fine, but response times are very slow—sometimes over a day. The woman who checked us in was polite but gave us no information and spoke very limited English. More proactive communication would really improve the experience.🏡 The villa itselfAs always, the villa layout and private pool are the main reason we stay here. It was clean, comfortable, and felt familiar. It seems they added a coffee machine, which is great—but they hadn’t included coffee, only tea, sugar, and sweetener. We got different answers from staff about whether coffee was provided; eventually, a small bag was delivered to us.🐜 Mosquito problems this visitMosquitos were worse than usual. The electric bug zapper didn’t help much, and while repellent coils were provided, there was no lighter to use them and they didn’t stay lit. We had to buy our own lighter and even then they weren’t very effective.🚽 Bathroom & room comfort issuesA few things could be improved: • The industrial-style toilet paper dispenser (like in public bathrooms) is awkwardly placed behind the toilet and the paper is extremely thin—very impractical. This really needs to be replaced. • The mattresses have seen better days. There’s a topper on them, but it doesn’t help much. • The private pool drainage is quite loud when water spills over; adding stones in the overflow channel could reduce the noise.🤝 Staff & surroundingsStaff remain friendly and the resort is well-kept. The area around the hotel continues to improve with more shops and places to walk to each time we visit, which we appreciate.⸻ConclusionWe still recommend Samui Boat Lagoon—great villas for the price, a location we love, and friendly staff. But better communication, improved amenities, and a few maintenance updates would really elevate the experience, especially for loyal returning guests like us.Highly recommended overall, but hoping to see a few upgrades on the next visit.⸻

    Fabulous hotel in Koh Samui

    rating19 Jan 2025

This hotel is superb! Very clean, friendly staff, lovely set up with your own plunge pool / sunbeds and kitchen area if you don’t want to go to the main pool. Main pool was largely quiet when we were here… no rush for beds. There’s a lovely restaurant at the end of the road into the hotel and a 711 next door - no bar / restaurant in the hotel itself. Not a lot more around - Sopa at the end of the main road is also good for food and they deliver. However, grab taxi (like Uber) are cheap to Bophut or Fisherman’s village. Download the app.

    Fabulous Samui Boat Lagoon

    rating11 Mar 2023

This hotel is beautiful and so peaceful. Lovely staff and though the beach may not be perfect to some it is quiet, very pretty and the water is fine for cooling off even if it’s not deep enough to swim. Contrary to other reviews there are a few restaurants, a very good massage/beauty salon, laundry, bike/car rental, 7-11 and street food stalls, all within 5 minutes walk. A 5-10 minute walk takes you to the main Bangrak strip close to Big Buddha where you can find everything you need, with Choeng Mon only 5 minutes by songthaew in one direction, less than 10 minutes to Bo Phut and Fisherman’s Village in the other direction. This place is fabulous and having stayed at many different places in Thailand over the last 36 years this is one I will definitely return to for peace and R&R.

This place is heaven on earth! So peaceful and so private. The place is immaculate and the staff are amazing! The standard is second to none here! Great location with lots to do in the area. Shops are really close by too. We will be returning here for sure!

Lovely villa but nothing else around

    rating11 Mar 2022

We stayed at the Samui boat lagoon for 5 nights in March. They arranged pick up at Samui airport and it’s a short drive to the accommodation. On check in the first words out of the receptionist mouth was “you’ll have to change villa tomorrow at 2pm as we have a guest arriving h who has resisted the villa your staying in and we are fully booked” as you can imagine, not a great start and I advised that my booking had been made 14 months ago so there really was no need for this to happen!!! I really wasn’t getting anywhere with it! Wouldn’t say customer service is great here. The villas however are lovely as you have an outside kitchen area and obviously a lovely plunge pool. However they certainly aren’t the cleanest I’ve been in and found I was antibacterial spraying every service, don’t forget this isn’t an SHA+ accommodation and now I can see why! If there’s one thing I can advise is to bring a suitcase full of mosquito repellent! The mosquitoes are the worst I’ve ever seen and I know Samui has a tropical climate so it’s to be expected but it doesn’t help that you have an outside shower (which is lovely) but what isn’t lovely is that there is no drainage for the water to run away, it just runs into soil beside the shower and this is where the mosquitoes are nesting…not nice at all! There is no bar or restaurant at the property however you can order in or walk a couple of minutes down the road to a place called stop@sopa. The food is absolutely beautiful as is the staff! Very good pricing too. There also a 7 11 at the end of the driveway to the property. It Also states that the property is right on the beach…..it’s not, given it’s only a 2 minute walk away but it certainly isn’t a beach for lounging, it’s more of a working beach. So going back to the changing of villas. We we told a time between 12 &2 that we had to pack our stuff up again and move so really that day was wasted as we had to pack our things up again and move to another villa and then unpack again. the reception isn’t 24/7 either so for example our safe wouldn’t open, all of our cards and money was in there and thankfully it was 5.30pm when we noticed so ran down to the reception where they were packing up to leave for the night, if we’d missed them we wouldn’t have been able to go for dinner that night, there is literally no one else to speak to when the reception closes! If it wasn’t for the fact we had a private pool I would certainly not be staying here again as I think you can get better value for money elsewhere. It states in the little book we had in our villa that they strongly advise scooter rental, I don’t see why as it’s like every other small island. As long as you know how to ride and wear a helmet you’ll be fine, if you didn’t have s scooter you’d be stranded!!!!
