    Pleasantly Surprised

    rating09 Feb 2025

Last minute booking as only staying in Phi Phi for 1 day and night. After reading the reviews about U Rip Resort I was a bit sceptical about staying there. I booked two rooms and was pleasantly surprised with them. The breakfast we had was lovely, the staff were extremely helpful and took care of our luggage after we checked out. The only downside was there wasn’t enough beds around the pool area. However this was overcome by sitting on a towel placed on the grass.

    Horrendous stay. Avoid!

    rating01 Jan 2025

Don’t ignore the bad reviews like I did hoping it wouldn’t be ‘that bad’. This hotel was so expensive and it ruined a big portion of my holiday. First of all, the only pro: the location. It’s not far to walk to the centre but far enough that you can’t hear loud music etc. I was looking for a more laid back place not a party hotel so that works… that’s the only positive. The rooms are very run down, dirty, smelly, loud and are full of mosquitoes and other flying biting bugs. The mosquitoes wasn’t a problem I could solve either as there was a nearly 1 inch gap between the door and frame for the balcony and a large gap under the hotel door and tears in the netting in the bathroom. I’ve never been so eaten alive before that I’ve had to go to the pharmacy as they’re infected! The rooms have windows with a view of the corridor which seems pointless and like staying in an office building. So it doesn’t feel very private with just a curtain to cover. You can hear every single noise outside the room echoing through the corridor and the cleaners are very loud from around 7am. There were cats fighting in the corridor at 3am most nights. The water from the shower smells like rotten eggs. While it boasts it has a private section of beach, there are no sunbeds that you can use or even rent, which to me seems like a bare minimal thing for a hotel with a section of beach. Therefore it was hard to enjoy the beach as it gets no shade during the day and no umbrellas. Same around the pool. No hand soap. Very Noisy air con. The breakfast is the weirdest and most awful breakfast I’ve encountered in Thailand. It’s not even breakfast food. Over cooked plain pasta, rice, curry, cheap instant coffee, hot dog sausages and cheap ham that were covered in flies. I love Thailand but 2 days into my stay here (I’d booked 4 nights) I was looking at flights home. It really put me on a downer. All the hotels were full due to it being Christmas so I couldn’t move hotel. It was by far the most expensive hotel i had during my visit to Thailand and by far the worst. The photos that the resort post are not the rooms you will get. They are probably for the more ‘premium’ bungalows etc. I stayed in a 2* hotel in patong for £30 a night that was like a 5* compared to this place.

Wow family trip in phi phi

It was a really very nice time with my wife and boy . The main part of the attraction is that the beach is very near and it is private so you don't need to go anywhere. The swimming pool is awesome. The resort environment is very nice for families. It is very very big. We spent one night. Breakfast is also good.

    A good hotel

    rating25 Sept 2024

This hotel was lovely, room was spacious and the AC worked very well. Was a bit weird to have a window that saw into the hallway. We of course kept this curtain closed at all times. A very digital hotel that had a doorbell and to press if you do/don’t want room service. The doors don’t shut so well and you do have to give them a good pull, they will start beeping at you if it’s left open! Balcony a tad on the small side but we didn’t use it much. I had my clothes hanging to dry and from the heavy rain mixed with sand dirt from the works they are doing all my clothes were stained by building dust etc…The builders were very loud during the day and their tools just smelt awful. It didn’t put me off sitting by the pool but it wasn’t pleasant. One of the pools furthest from reception also stained my friends bikini orange a very dark orange sadly she had to throw this. The hotel staff were very kind and they do luggage pick up and drop offs outside McDonald’s near the pier. It is a 15 min walk to the shops and restaurants but the walk is lovely with sea views

Blood stains, dirty towels, and broken door and AC

    rating15 Feb 2024

Entered the room to a horrid smell we could not identify at first. The hand towel was soiled. The floor was dirty. Items left on the upper shelf. The pillow case had blood stains on it. The smell from the room we discovered is an island issue with the water smelling like sewage. That one issue wasn’t resort specific but island wide. The AC unit wouldn’t change from high fan at frigid temperature even when the setting was on low fan at 25, which was the ‘warmest’ it went to. We had to wear housecoats and be tucked under the blankets to stay warm in the room. The patio door lock was damaged and it took a lot of muscle to get it to latch properly which it wasn’t when we entered the room. The good things about this resort was the close location to the beach being right there and the nice pools.
