  The hotel is on an excellent location which you can find a street of great local foods, restaurants, 4 convenient stores and pharmacy, etc opposite to the hotel. The room is spacious and clean. Housekeeping arranged the other day which was fine to me. However, pls noted you have to bring your tooth brush and paste, shower gel and shampoo. And the hotel do not provide car parking, there is car parking opposite to the hotel. Hotel staff told us to park our car in front of the entrance of hotel which we did and found full of birds drops terribly on the car on the next day and we spent 200THB to wash the car.

  Very happy with everything, room kept very clean every 3 days. All staff very friendly and helpful. Pool very high standard. Excellent Street market every night right opposite. Not noisy and very nice place to stay for our 2 weeks. Arranged scooter hire and very good. Highly recommend.

  The room smelled like mold and it was water on the toilet- and bedroom floor. There was a fish market opposite the hotel, what ever you do, DONT go there! U will threw up because of the smell and all the horrible fishes, unfortunately you have no other choice than to go through that awful place if you want to visit some other places.

  We found the Orchid Heights purely by chance. The receptionist "Q" (short for Quentin) showed us around and we were impressed with the sheer space in the rooms, lounge, bedroom, bathroom and dining area. It all looked so good. However, we should have looked a little deeper. The kitchen was supposedly fully equipped, but it had the bear minimal. No sweeping brush or dust pan and they only seemed to do the rooms once a week so it did start to get quite dirty and the bin soon started to smell. We had to ask for room service on more than one occasion. it seemed the maids sat down most of the day as we never saw them working. When they did do the room they left clean towels with holes in that were totally worn out. Two of everything only in the kitchen, One small frying pan and a small pan, 2 knifes, 2 forks and so on while it was doable a few more cups and plates etc. would have made life so much easier that we ended up going over the market to buy crockery so that when you prefer a meal in you could cook it. Remember there is no room service, restaurant or breakfast so breakfast you have to make or not eat.The rooms are very spacious and reasonably appointed with all you could want, small balcony, if they had mosey screens at the doors and windows that would be a big help especially at night as the air con is so noisy and inefficient that it is impossible to sleep with it on. Talking of night, across the road on bar starts up at about 11pm, they do a form of Karaoke that entails someone screeching as if they are extracting a tooth with rusty pincers and only whisky for anaesthetic until about 4am every night / morning. So you have a choice, noisy air con or the screech of a demented drunken Thai. Its that bad, honest.But back to the hotel. The pool is a big big plus especially as the hotel was close to empty, it was like our own private pool, and it is a good size, Few tiles missing of the pool floor unfortunately but on the whole it was a definite plus every evening to cool off after a day out on the scooter.Kathu is fairly central on the Island and is not a tourist spot, 4/5 kl from Patong and Phuket Town. If you have transport it is ideal but you do need transport, (Scooter hire, native English speaker, delivery to your hotel, decent serviced scooters, info@motorbikehireinphuket.com) There is a market across the road with everything you need, with two 7/11's, also a night market with very cheep cooked Thai food, chemist, garage for fuel,. In short all you need if you are prepared to walk around and find it. The four big drawbacks we found was Its 5 floors (soon to be 6) with no lift, but we were told that prior to booking so to be fair we cant hold that against them, but if your not fit you will be. As you enter the building the access is over a drain and it dose give a potent whiff off most of the time. Lack of room service, I see from the reviews that they did them every day. All I can say is it was once a week while we were there but also we never ever saw the manger (I think he may have been away) so maybe that explains why.The four positives,The pool.Room size and fittings.Receptionist and his assistant were so helpful.It is secure a electronic for entry system.

  Not as good as it looks

  First of all anyone reading this should be aware that there is no lift in this six story apartment block and having spent 10 days climbing up to the fifth floor I can speak from first hand experience it is not for the faint hearted. The apartments are spacious but are let down badly by the extreme lack of kitchen crockery and utensils, the deafening and obviously worn out air conditioning units and the lack of service given by the domestic staff. The apartment was serviced only once during our entire stay and this only after it was firmly requested. A bag of overflowing kitchen waste was placed on the stairs for collection where it remained for 4 days! One reviewer has commented that the building is barely 4 years old, however I know this information to be inaccurate as I have stayed on several occasions directly across the road at the less conspicuous Good Morning Mansion although the small building on the six floor has now been extended to create further accomadations.Noise at night from the surrounding area was a huge problem during our stay though I appreciate there was little that the staff could do about this . However it is fair to say we were driven out by this noise having paid for a month, intending to stay 2 weeks we left after ten days!
