    March break vacation from Canadians

    rating28 Mar 2026

We stayed here for our March break vacation along with another couple with a baby. The all inclusive package and location was the reason we chose to stay in the lowlands area. We were able to quickly get the Pigeon Point beach for an amazing day and we got to checkout the hills of Scarborough. We loved the pools and views at the resort so we didn't venture out too much. The resort is large and impressive but is in need of updating and maintenance. It is difficult to maintain due to the Atlantic. The playground being off limits was a bit disappointing but we managed to keep the kid entertained, but I will bring more next time and I recommend to others. The rooms were clean with good water and we had a nice view of the ocean and golf course. The food was amazing. Freshly prepared dinner and lunches and the breakfast buffet was consistently delicious. The drinks were excellent and a big shout out to Runesia, Susan for keeping us topped off the whole trip. My guy Jahvani was the best! I drank alot of rum punches and he was full of interesting stories and info and our up with me asking all kinds of things. Lastly, the supervisor Lisa was great at helping our group with reservations and worked to keep us comfortable. The service was great. I was able to golf twice and shot pretty well with the average club rentals. The round was a bit expensive for the conditions of the course. It was quite dry compared to the previous round I played a few times. Maybe next time I can get a voucher from the hotel. We would stay here again. Thanks for the good times!

A dump with grouchy and demoralized staff

    rating26 Mar 2026

This hotel was a downer. The grounds and pool are lovely - and building from a far is impressive but as you get closer you can see it has not been maintained. Reception should be a welcoming place and it is not, stuck up supervisors and poorly trained staff persons is what you will find. Lousy overpriced food with mediocre to bad service, and the breakfast is downright gross. And whats more horrifying is that they apply a service tax - which staff dont get and then ask for the gratuity to be paid in cash. So weird. The room was meh, tight poorly kept bathroom, fixtures are wearing and rusty. Cant even give free water daily. And just know this hotel is isolated and very far from everything. Never again.

Wonderful trip to the Magdalena hotel

    rating09 Mar 2026

A brilliant holiday at the Magdalena hotel. We enjoyed every aspect of our trip, the golf was a highlight as was the food and the friendliness of the staff. Set in a wonderful plantation, the nature you can see at the hotel was amazing. Wonderful bird life, iguana and cayman as well as other lizards.I would highly recommend this hotel

    Wonderful Getaway

    rating05 Mar 2026

My wife and I spent 5 relaxing days and nights at the Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort immediately after Trinidad's Carnival season ended. We chose the resort for its size, variety of dining options, three swimming pools, and all-inclusive menu plan. Our comfortable oceanfront room included a patio where we enjoyed sitting with a cocktail in the evenings while listening to the ocean. The food was uniformly excellent although most of the resort's 5 restaurants are only open for dinner on certain days of the week. The Atlantic Ocean was too rough for using the beach during winter months, so we took advantage of the free shuttle service to the calmer waters and fun atmosphere at Pigeon Point Heritage Park one afternoon. Other excursions around the island of Tobago were also available although we did not participate in them. Another highlight was cycling around the resort every day to admire the beautiful condos and villas of the Tobago Plantation area using the free bicycles available for hotel guests. Some of the furnishings could use an upgrade but the friendliness and helpfulness of the Magdalena staff, especially the concierge and bell captain, made our stay very comfortable. We highly recommend the Magdalena Grand for anyone seeking a quiet, restful vacation in a beautiful oceanfront location.

    Good

    rating05 Feb 2026

It's a bit isolated but a lovely setting. Disappointed that the main pool was closed but on the upside free trips to the beach. The resort itself is a bit tired needing some tlc. Rooms are adequate but a bit dark and air-conditioning is a bit temperamental. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Buffet style breakfast and 3 other places to eat, food was okay. Played golf, pro shop a bit unhelpful, no map of course, so you need your phone on, but a long course and well kept. Not sure I would return purely due it's isolated location and it's on the Atlantic side.
