    A Few Concerns to Consider

    rating18 Feb 2026

My sister, a friend, and I stayed here for two nights (January 16–18, 2026) to be closer to Port of Spain for Carnival, and overall, the experience was mixed.Pros:The customer service was definitely the highlight of our stay. Although check-in time was 2:00 p.m., they kindly allowed us to check in early at 11:30 a.m., which we really appreciated. Whenever we needed assistance, the staff were friendly, helpful, and professional. When we reported an issue, they responded promptly. The air conditioning worked very well, which was important given the heat.On our first day, there was a leak in the bathroom ceiling. A water bubble had formed under the paint. Since there were no working phones in the room (the push-button telephone did not function), we had to walk down to the front desk to report it. They promptly sent the handyman, who was apologetic and resolved the issue within about an hour. We appreciated how efficiently they handled the situation.Cons:The hotel itself is quite dated and not modern. The television was an older, bulky model with no remote and only one working channel, which was very disappointing. The bathroom shower head scattered water, making it difficult to enjoy a proper shower. The room was also a bit dusty, which triggered our sinuses.Another major concern was that the cleaning staff entered our room after we had instructed that we did not require housekeeping. Our valuables were left out in the open at the time, which was unsettling. Thankfully, nothing was taken, but this raised concerns about privacy and security.Additionally, the price was very high, likely due to the location near the Shops of Maraval and the Carnival season. However, the condition and amenities of the hotel did not justify the cost. It was simply not worth the price we paid.To be fair, this was one of the only places available at short notice for Carnival, so we were more or less forced to book it. That said, for the same price, we could likely have stayed at a more modern hotel had we planned and booked earlier. Lesson learned for next time.Overall:While the staff were accommodating and responsive, the outdated facilities, privacy concerns, and high price make this a difficult recommendation unless improvements are made.

    Deceptive Advertising

    rating16 Jul 2025

Not What I Expected – Disappointed but Grateful for the PeopleI stayed at Royal Palm Suite Hotel in Trinidad and was quite disappointed. The room didn’t include a refrigerator as advertised, the water pressure was very low, there was a phone in the room that doesn't work, and the towels and furniture were worn out. I even encountered cockroaches, which was unsettling. The property really needs an upgrade. That said, the staff were kind and helpful throughout my stay. My taxi driver, John, was professional and dependable. Mr. Brown even lent me his charger when I needed one, and several others—whose names I sadly don’t recall—showed genuine hospitality. While the facilities fell short, the people made a difference. I appreciate their warmth, but I hope the management addresses the property’s condition soon.I would not recommend this hotel. TERRIBLE!

    I mean really?

    rating26 Feb 2024

Dear Royal Palm Suite Hotel Management Team,I am writing this review in response to the review done by Jay D and to your response to his same review. I concur with everything that was mentioned in the review done by Jay D. I am disappointed at your team's response; here are the several reasons why:Upon check-in, we were surprised and shocked at the standard of tidiness and cleanliness of the room. We decided not to bring this matter up, since we were too shocked and surprised, and therefore decided to accept that the management deems the room ready and good for check-in at this filthy and untidy condition. There was no point to get staff to clean the room all over again, since it was the evening and all the housekeeping staff were gone for the day.We also spoke to no one because there was no absolutely no point for this, considering how laughable the whole situation was. We had everything under control from our end; there was no need for any assistance. We did not make any complaints because the standards of cleanliness are just laughable and we accepted this ridiculousness. If for all of these examples – stains on the bedlinen and upholstery, rusty shower curtain rail, dust under the beds and all furniture, dust and dirt behind curtains on window sills, water stains on all crockery and utensils, limescale residue and stains in the kettle, broken ironing board, stained and dirty iron, stains on towels, curtains with missing hooks, etc – were present upon check-in and this was deemed ready for stay, surely arriving to all of this in the evening would make it futile for us to request for rectification.Of course the problem was the cost of the room! I mean really?Iron broken by another guest; so it's ok to give it to us to use? I mean really?Yes all pictures on the website were actual, but has anyone paid attention to come closer? I mean really?Would you be totally happy to stay in the room you let us check into? You let us check into a room that looked like that. I mean really? There will be no apology. Sally Mohammed, Other at Royal Palm Suite Hotel, responded to this review I will not waste any further time on persons who have nothing better to do than be spiteful and malicious.Your time will come too when someone complains about your business. The reviews reflect both you and your friend's characters and you have made fools of yourselves. The excuses are stupid and ignorant. It is obvious that you came with the intention to find fault with everything. Perhaps you should have paid $700 usd per night in another hotel to suit your 'STANDARDS".Your reply makes no sense at allIT IS FOLLY TO BE WISE

Appears 2 Guests were confused. Stole $80

    rating26 Feb 2024

I stayed and was the one who booked the room where the front desk clerk took $100 US and wrote a receipt that I didn't sign for $20 US deposit. We were expecting a deposit, but not $100 US. I, myself, didn't have $100 US in cash, but my traveling had some cash so we split the deposit. When leaving for our plane the morning of our departure, they showed me the receipt and I argued that wasn't correct. The staff on hand said they had security cameras and could check the tapes. I have not heard back from them. I hope they can prove with video that we only paid $20 US, and not $100 US for the deposit. Lest I am not confused about the difference between USD and TTD. Sally Mohammed, Other at Royal Palm Suite Hotel, responded to this review We asked the receptionist about Mr Reid's deposit ; we checked back the cameras; and we double checked the audit for monies received in US cash.We can now verify the following:1. all USD received has been matched with the payee2. the cameras showed that Mr Reid paid in $20 usd. He did not take the receipt because he was in a hurry and could not wait for the receptionist to finish writing up the receipt. He said he would collect same later. He did not collect same and it remained in the receipt book.3. Money handed in at the audit verified that $20 was received4. We do not have ready USD on hand to provide USD change so the receptionist would not have USD on her person to give back any change if she even received same.5. We checked over and over again and can verify that only $20usd was received from Mr Reid. Both him and his wife may have been mistaken as to the amount they paid in. Its curious that if one pays in a deposit, one would want to collect a receipt to ensure that you will have proof of payment for refund of same. We cannot tell why he never collected the receipt from reception and waited until check out date to query the payment which is very distressing to all concerned and causes loss of precious time in carrying out investigation after investigation.

Beware of the front desk staff

    rating22 Feb 2024

Based on past reviews, we were prepared not to expect much for the ridiculous amount of money paid for this run down hotel. We reserved late so everything was booked for Carnival except The Royal Palm. BUT, we were not prepared to be deceived and have our money stolen by a front desk staff member. When we checked in on a Saturday night, the front desk lady asked for a $100 cash key deposit. We thought this was strange and also a lot of money in US dollars but it was a late Saturday night so we trustingly gave the deposit (without getting a receipt). Upon check out, there was a new set of staff who told us only $20 US dollars was noted for our deposit and they had no idea because the deposit should have been 100 TT. They supposedly called the manager but we never heard anything or received any follow up about our money. Everyone basically played stupid and we had to catch a plane so there was no recourse. Again, we were prepared for anything about the hotel conditions but not to be blatantly stolen from by the front desk. , Owner at Royal Palm Suite Hotel, responded to this review Having completed the audit for the Carnival period, I can assure you that we have a $100 TTD cash key deposit policy. The receptionist collected $20 usd from this guest and made a receipt for same. The gentleman was given the receipt. We have copies of the receipt to prove same. When he checked out, he was given the $20 usd he paid for the key deposit and claimed that he paid $100 usd which seems very strange as this has not happened to any other guest.Perhaps he is confused and THOUGHT HE PAID $100 USD. If he paid that money and claims not to have received a receipt...why did he not insist on getting a receipt? As far as the account audit shows, no such $100usd was paid in as a key deposit.
