  A peaceful and charming stay

  I had a wonderful stay at Jardins de Toumana and would definitely return! The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-maintained.The staff is both professional and genuinely kind, always ready to assist. Breakfast was delicious and varied, and the à la carte menu offered a great selection of tasty dishes.One of the highlights of this hotel is its perfect size– not too big, not too small – which gives it a unique and human scale that feels very relaxing and personal. The beach is just a short walk away and is beautiful, making it easy to enjoy the sea whenever you like.A special mention goes to the 3 cats that roam the garden – they add so much warmth and charm to the place.One suggestion: it would be lovely to have a small tip box at reception dedicated to supporting the cats’ food and vet care.   How in this earth did they get so many stars?

  This in one of the places where ravishing reviews depart from personal experience. The good: a beautiful pool yard The bad: my room was derelict, renovated well over a decade ago. The AC did not work, dampened the floor, everything. The “welcome” desk was the coldest in my 50 years travelling, no courtesy. The ugly: in Tunez there are no private beaches, but the government rents them all the way up to 3 meters from the water. We seated in the beach with the same name as the hotel, we were expelled by 5 guards. The hotel reception never gave us direction on which was their beach, when I told them what happened, no apologies, they did not care. Summary, one of my worst experiences as a tourist in over 148 countries.   Very rude staff especially Jamal.

  Maybe I live on another planet, but I really didn't like this hotel. The rudest staff ever especially Jamal at the front desk who charged me the local tax for an extra night when I wasn't staying there and kept the money for himself. I have been travelling in Tunisia a while and this was the worst hotel so far. Yes, my previous two hotels were luxury 5-star but I had stayed in other 3-star hotels during my trip. The positives. Nice grounds and setting. Clean. Huge room like an apartment with a kitchen area if you want to cook anything. WIFI worked well. Now, why I didn't like it. The room was like an oven. There is air conditioning but this didn't work well and mainly flowed in the lounge area rather than the bedroom. I struggled to sleep. It was cooler outside! The bathroom was very basic. No complimentary water provided. There is a small supermarket opposite the hotel and what appeared to be a coffee shop but other than that, the area is pretty dead with nothing around. You need a car or a taxi to move around. My room rate did not include any meals but suggest adding them. As I said, there is not much around. I included breakfast and had the buffet dinner twice during my stay. Breakfast was a basic buffet, but adequate with breads, pastries, an egg station and more. Not huge at all but enough. Coffee was awful. The dinner buffet was fine. Again not a huge selection but enough. The food was nice but skip the desserts, too sickly sweet. Drinks are not included. Cheap. They have an à la carte menu too for dinner which mainly includes Western dishes. I got a little bit annoyed with the waiters as they kept hovering over you when eating, watching and all I wanted was to be left in peace. On my first night, I was encouraged to have something from the à la carte menu but why do I want to have pizza and pasta when I can have that at home? Go for the buffet. Reception staff were unfriendly and never greeted you. My stay was meant to be for 4 nights but I checked out after 2 and went to another nicer hotel. There is a small swimming pool as well.   Probably the nicest hotel on Djerba, medium size (most are huge), above average food for the area, very friendly and helpful staff (excursions and rentals), clean, very nice 20m pool, price somewhat negotiable.   Just What We Hoped For

  Wow. Our unit was huge— bedroom, sitting area and kitchen (minimally equipped)but with refrigerator and microwave) A patio made for good sitting in the early morning or evening. The food was great, both the buffet and when ordering from the menu. The waitstaff were friendly and efficient.We enjoyed the pool for late afternoon swims. The beach where there were chairs and umbrellas is a short walk. Daily maid service. This is a resort to which customers, mostly French and German return to year after year. While it may be a little warm around the edges, for the price and spaciousness of the accommodation it earns our 5.
