So Good, We Came Back!

Another fantastic 11-night stay at Steigenberger Marhaba Thalasso Hammamet. ????We stayed here last year and chose to return again this year, something we never normally do, as we rarely visit the same place twice. That probably says everything you need to know!We stayed in bungalow 417, which had a fantastic view over the main pool, with the surrounding trees and beautifully maintained grounds making it a lovely, peaceful spot.Once again, everything has been excellent. The food, service and attentiveness have all been spot on. But a special thank you to Wajdi (who even remembered us from last year), Othman and Bilel, who have been absolute standouts this year. Their friendliness, attention and willingness to go the extra mile really made a difference. They are not only a credit to the hotel, but to the Steigenberger brand.We leave tomorrow morning after another brilliant stay. We will definitely be back once again in the future. ????? 1st visit to tunisia arrived 12 lunchtime only waited 30 min for room to be ready were allocated bungalow 909 quiet location overlooking the gardens we found the bungalow to be clean , spacious, lovely big bed and the most comfy pillows . Breakfast was the usual fayre but then I found the lovely lady making the fresh donuts ?? evening meals we found more challenging with children running around and screaming ( not the hotels fault ) but was hectic . The main dining room food temperature was usually cool unless you had something cooked on the griddle .the italian restaurant meal was lovely .Lunch we ate everyday at the BBQ loved it so much more relaxing . Every team member we met were smiling, engaging and more than willing to assist if needed . The gardens were beautiful and the gardening team work constantly hard and also greet with a hello and a smile .we had occasion to speak with guest relations Sehear ( sorry if spelt wrong ) a genuine lovely helpful lady . We did not use the spa so no personal experience but heard many say they loved it .The team in the reception bar area are fab non stop but again smiling and engaging . Beach bar great view but didn't feel the great staff service as with every other area . Overall had a good stay 5 star service overall but not a 5 star hotel in my opinion . Just returned from an amazing 2 week holiday, it was our 1st visit to Tunisia so we were a little apprehensive, but no need, the whole 2 week experience was awesomeHotel - stunning, we travel a lot and can honestly say it ranked among the best, the staff ( cleaners, bar staff, reception, waiters and entertainment team) were all so friendly and helpful, they really make the hotel so welcoming and create a great atmosphere, the room was well equipped and cleaned daily, we had a top floor sea view and the vista was stunning.Pool / Grounds - the outside areas are kept spotless, our only gripe was with people reserving sunbeds, they were out placing towels on beds at 6am!! even though there are signs saying reserving beds is not allowed, the hotel need to enforce this as its just not fair on people who try to get a bed after breakfast but they all have towels on and no one sat there!!Beach - as good as any caribbean beach, soft white sand, the sea is crystal clear and warm, perfect for swimming in, fair enough as you walk to the public areas of the beach its a little grubby. - There are a lot of beach merchants selling the usual stuff, they can be pushy, they are just trying to make a living, but if you tell them straight but politely, that you don't need anything then they leave you aloneFood - we loved it, always a big variety with many options to suit all tastes, credit to the chefs they really do present and prep the food very professionally and if you wanted anything specific then they cater that for you, just ask, they are so helpful, one point to note, it is not necessary for men to wear pants for the evening dinner serviceHammamet - we walked along the beach to the old town / medina, it took 1 hour and was a lovely walk, but very hot so taking a drink is important, you can also catch a taxi, they are always some outside the hotel, it costs 20 Dinar ( about £5 to the medina) - the old town is great to walk around and explore.We loved our holiday, it was a great experience, far better than the usual tourist resorts, and we will be returning.
