    British Tourist Review (Avoid)

    rating14 Sept 2022

I have written this review mainly for British tourists and have been as unbiased as possible without reflecting most of our many daily problems throughout the holiday. Before I start this review, I want to point out that ‘most’ of the staff seemed to be extremely helpful as best they could within their work capacity limitations (except for the pool bar guy, he was permanently miserable, rude and lazy – a proper jobsworth). Its also worth noting that Tunisia's tourism is on its knee’s and as you will read this Hotel is also very much on its knee’s.Firstly: this is most definitely not a British resort. I will comment on guests’ general behaviour later in my review.Secondly: this is not a 4* resort by British Standards, this is a 1* resort at best with several sections of the accommodation buildings and leisure facilities in a derelict state. You can see 20 years ago it would have been 4* but there’s limited signs that this dog’s do-do is being polished. This is Fawlty Towers on Steroids and Carry on Abroad all rolled into one.Thirdly: if you are/have booked through loveholidays then you need to be aware that there are no loveholiday reps on site, loveholidays can only be contacted via their live chat and wont resolve any in resort problems immediately as their policies have a 56-day response time. ALSO unlike what is advertised on loveholidays website more than half of the complex is derelict and the ONLY facilities they have here are table tennis, darts (this is actually a kids magnetic dartboard), a main pool which is actually the only nice part of the resort, an indoor pool (which if full of submerged rehabilitation equipment), a Spa which will only serve you if you speak French (we were told by the Spa staff that no English served) and the golf course is actually crazy golf – there are NO other facilities, although they are advertised. The hotel description also says English is spoken which is stretching it slightly as only 2 reception staff speak limited English - everyone else, including the animation team is French or Arabic speaking, as is the kids and evening entertainment.AccommodationIn 10 days we stayed in 6 rooms as every room had problems and was far from an acceptable standard for a 4* rating. All rooms in the ok’ish part of the complex all suffered from insects, wet rot to door frames, broken air con units, some exposed electrical wires, some rooms had a mini fridge whereas others had had them removed. The mattresses felt like they are 20+ years old and full of broken springs. Half of the rooms have a front or patio door which does not lock or doesn’t have a locking mechanism, compromising your security. Please also be aware that one the hotels accommodation buildings is a nursing home / respite care for local Tunisians who will also use the hotels facilities and dining room with hotel guests. This was not a problem to us, and it was nice to see them enjoying a holiday, but it was said by a few guests that this is not what you would expect if you booked a 4* Spa resort.Pool AreaThe main pool is nice, big and there are plenty of sun loungers, but it could do with more parasols. The pool itself is chlorine based but as the week goes on the water’s visibility becomes more like that resembling milk as buckets and buckets of chlorine are added each day.The pool bar is advertised as having daily snacks, we only saw a total of 2 trays of snacks on 3 afternoons of the 10 days we were there – and we didn’t leave the resort for 10 days (that wasn’t by choice). Beer consumption was also limited from the pool bar - at no point throughout the holiday was I allowed to drink more than 6 half pints between opening time in the morning to the evening meal from the pool bar. Alcohol was served in glasses not plastic so when a guest accidently smashed a glass it made the pool area unsafe due to shards of glass, and the glass would not be cleared away immediately and could remain there for at least a day. Adjacent to the pool bar is a gift shop and several excursion / henna tattoo / bracelet stalls. The owners of these stalls will harass you all day, every day while you’re trying to relax on sun loungers to buy things from them.Food &HygieneTunisian school dinners from the 1980’s is the perfect description. Forget about finding any western or European food, and french fries are once a week. Also, twice a week the highlight is a whole tuna fish carved in front of you and cooked on a hot plate – this was actually pretty good. The outside BBQ every night would also have been good but regular using the same tongs for raw and cooked meat, plus occasional undercooked meat was probably the contribution to my food poisoning.Table clothes were only changed once a day. A new tablecloth for breakfast which was shaken off and turned over ready for lunch. After lunch the same tablecloth shaken off and turned over with breakfast stains showing ready for dinner.Guest BehaviourFrom our personal experience this is predominantly an Arabic, French and Dutch resort with the odd German family. Until the last 2 days of our holiday, we were the only English family. Not that this is a problem, and it doesn’t bother us in the slightest. The hotel staff would only speak to or serve Arabic and French speaking guests and ignore all other nationalities unless necessary or they were the only ones seeking to be served / enquiring of their services. The biggest problems between nationalities were during mealtimes. The Dutch and Germans were very polite and friendly, the French were well....French, but all Arabic speaking guests thought they had a given right to work in teams to push people out of food queues, push in front of people, take trays of food at a time leaving relatively few options for other guests for long periods, fingering all the food before taking or leaving it and then wasting at least 50% of what they had taken going straight into the bin. You couldn’t help but feel if there had been a higher number of German or English guest’s mealtimes would have ended in altercations with our Arabic speaking guests.Bad behaviour from guests was never challenged by the staff throughout our holiday.People might say this is a narrowminded viewpoint BUT if you ever wanted to experience what is like being part of an ethnic minority then this is the resort for you.

    Never Again

    rating17 Aug 2022

Don't know where to start with this hotel. The staff are 4 star, the accommodation and most of the guests are 1 star. We had the worst 10day holiday here, mostly caused by our holiday provider and the lack of high standards at this resort. We moved rooms 4 times. 1st room had 3 beds for 4 of us??? They offered to put my 11yr old son on a fold down bed for 10 nights in a room where a 4th bed didn't fit. 2nd room, kept awake until midnight due to very loud karaoke singing from entertainment and the fact the door didn't shut and block it out. 3rd room, we endured 3 nights in with no air con as it was faulty and it was blowing out 28c hot air. We had to sleep in another room at 2am due to the heat and woke to the room being flooded by leaking air con thru the ceiling. After repeatedly asking them to fix air con and them trying we were moved again. 4th room, cool and big enough, but outside balcony door didn't lock and toilet didn't flush until we took it apart. The food waste is extreme! Local Tunisians stay here and the amount of food they collect from the buffet and don't eat is offensive!! The positives, the staff are very friendly and will do anything to try and help, they too seem frustrated. The 1st entertainment team with bibo and Sam was great, really friendly and lots of activities. They disappeared half way thru holiday and were replaced by much lesser entertainment staff that didn't fill the day the same way. We discovered on the last day this was because the hotel was being bought by TUI magic and would be aimed at the French, English and German. No more local Tunisians would be going. This hotel is in serious need of investment and sadly we had to stay at it when they were trying to prove how much it was needed. I'm sure when money is ploughed into it and the people it appeals to change it can be a lovely hotel, but at the moments its standards are far too low!

Brilliant!!Can’t fault any of the staff at all they all go above and beyond. The kitchen staff especially the chef made it extra special for my mum as she’s a picky eater. The entertainment team especially Ben and hamza were great at getting us involvedBar staff waiting on us hand and foot. If you want a holiday and want it to be relaxing but enjoyable then this is the place.

    Worse holiday of my 34years!!

    rating18 Jun 2022

Where to start??..Good - Nice looking pool area Bad - I could go on forever…Room - not very clean at all, bathroom filthy - arrived to find blood on the bed sheets, safe does not work, tele didn’t work, ants throughout whole room.Staff - apart from Bebo Ben and 2 bar staff - every member of staff was rude arrogant and unhelpful.Food - unedible!!.. catered for everyone but English so we spent a week eating bread after my partner got food poisoning due to the chicken being served still clucking - red raw inside. After us complaining about the food - we were followed around like hawks by management and the head chef, this made us feel uneasy to say the least. The day before we were due to fly home 2 smart watches were stolen out of our room, when we approached the division manager to report this he was not bothered at all, said he was unwilling to help as alls we had done was complain - which we had a right to do considering the uncooked food that was being served. Due to them not wanting to assist us we had to go to the police to report the theft. Absolutely shocking hotel - will never return even if I was paid to go. This story will be reaching the papers. Hotel should be shut down. BE WARNED - DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS WE DID BY BOOKING THIS HOTEL!!
