    PLEASE DON'T DO IT... TOKAY!

    rating22 Sept 2018

Tokay Hotel. Avoid. It started off promising. We arrived at the hotel late - around 1am. One of the male employees appeared to be waiting for us to get there. He was really eager to book us onto their Turkish Hamman Bath and massage. He helped us to take our bags up to our room, checked we could connect to their ‘hit and miss’ WiFi. He even made sure our broken balcony doors and air con was working before he left for the night. Despite the poor first impression of our room, we felt welcomed and was hopeful it would be a friendly stay at the least. Little did we know, that would be the first and last night feeling this way. FoodThis hotel is supposed to offer an all-inclusive stay. Given its three stars, we didn’t expect to get gourmet meals. But, we still assumed breakfast would be worth it. I mean you can’t get toast, eggs and beans wrong, can you?! Well it seems you can… Breakfast consisted of stale bread - left out from what looked like days before - unidentifiable gloop and what looked like some sort of egg (we would’ve tasted it to be sure, but it looked like too much of a risk). It wasn’t edible to say the least. From the look on the other guests faces, we weren’t the only ones who were devasted to find we wouldn’t be getting a decent breakfast. We left hoping breakfast would be better and perhaps that was a one off. Nope! Breakfast was exactly the same every single day. Great!Lunch was okay. Rice, chicken and salad. We were delighted to be able to eat lunch at least. Just didn’t expect to see the exact same lunch served every single day. Dinner. Well, after having rice and chicken for lunch and then rice and chicken again for dinner the first night - we never had dinner here again for the rest of our stay. Thank God they have brilliant restaurants literally 5 minutes from the hotel. We would’ve starved to death! As for the colourful and tasty-looking barbeque shown in the photos on their website… For the whole week we stayed, we never saw it in real life. So yes, the variety of food you see displayed in the pictures are there for exactly that… display. Don’t be fooled – it’s not real. Just false advertisement. RoomsI’ve already mentioned the broken balcony door and air con. The bed was fairly comfortable - despite the one worn out pillow you get with it. How generous?! You also get a small old tv (which surprise surprise doesn’t turn on) and two of the bedroom lights didn’t even switch on. And don’t even get me started on bathroom with no ventilation. The room stank of drains and the shower floor was always wet. We slowly realised the water (from both the showers and toilets) didn’t drain properly and so we could smell the bodily fluids of all the other guests at the hotel. Wonderful.HousekeepingThere was none. Don’t expect your room to get turned down. In fact, don’t expect your room to be cleaned at all. We found dirty plates in the wardrobes and stains on the sheets. After being bitten to death by bed bugs, we were on a mission to find where they were keeping the bedsheets and towels. To our delight, it was on out floor. So, we conducted our own turn down.StaffThe majority of the employees at this hotel are men. Only three speak English. It became clear pretty quickly that this side of Turkey hardly ever get to see people of colour - especially from the UK. The men at this hotel wouldn’t leave us alone. Constantly asking for our mobile numbers, requesting to take pictures, winking and whistle blows. Oh and the guy who helped us the night we arrived, practically asked to give us a rub down every opportunity he got. One night he was brazen enough to say he’d never ‘massaged black women before and hoped this would be his chance’! It was disgusting, and we felt very uncomfortable. They even had the cheek to take pictures of us without permission. And said they would use it for their website. I made it very clear I didn’t want my photos on their site. The idea of being affiliated with the hotel is horrific. ConclusionOverall we made the most of our stay in Kemer. But our experience of this hotel was absolutely terrible. It was a massive disappointment. And the staff were disgraceful. They were more interested in the Russian and German guests. So, if you’re from anywhere else – or if you are of colour – please please please avoid. If you’ve already booked, please cancel. Three stars is a very high rating for Tokay hotel. I wouldn’t give it anymore than a 1.

    Please Avoid At All Cost!

    rating08 Sept 2018

Please read!I booked an all-inclusive package deal for 7nights at this hotel. Given that it is 3 stars I wasn’t expecting anything more than a comfortable satisfying stay. However, this was not the case!We arrived at the hotel in the early hours of Saturday morning and was greeted by a gentleman who was initially pleasant. He escorted us to our rooms and provided us with the wifi password, and checked our broken balcony door (which he said he would fix in the morning, despite us requesting to change rooms). FYI This was never fixed!!The room was average to say the least, and in my opinion VERY OUTDATED!. We also had no windows or proper ventilation in the bathroom and was provided with a very OLD SCHOOL black box TV which by the way doesn’t work.Food experience:On the first morning me and my cousin went down for breakfast and was in complete shock to say the least. There was very limited choices and a majority of the food was unidentifiable. We settled for bread and tea and did not return for breakfast until the day of our departure…which surprise surprise was the same unidentifiable, tasteless food.Dinner and lunch was practically the same thing every day, and to be honest very disappointing. Again limited food section, and what was survived was not appealing. The drinks offered at the bar were adequate.Location:The location of this hotel is fantastic it is close to the beach and local restaurants and shopping centre.Staff/customer experience: The staff at the hotel were initially pleasant and attended to our needs however, there are a few things I need to mention. This hotel is predominately used by Russians. If you are “people of colour” please AVOID. The staff often commented on the colour of our skin, asked to take pictures to help with their advertisement and on many occasions behaved in a perverted manner. We were often harassed by the male staff offering to give us a Turkish bath and on many occasions we were asked to provide our mobile number. The attention became overwhelming and for that reason we spent a majority of our time away from the hotel. Conclusion:I would suggest that if you are in the middle of booking this hotel you cancel NOW!! It is not worth the stress and hassle. The staff come across nice, but when something is not right and you need assistance they often laugh in your face and pretend to not understand English. GIVEN that this was supposed to be all inclusive, on the day of our departure we were presented with a big bill for all the drinks we have consumed. Bearing in mind they NEVER told us that we had to pay! They have no regards for women and the men working here WILL act in sleazy towards you! In a nutshell!!!!!The rooms are disgusting and outdated, the food is rubbish, and the pool side is to be desired!

Stayed here for 10 horrible nights payed for all inclusive food which there wasn't much of was inedible not allowed alcoholic drinks there was only red or white wine which you weren't allowed till after 2pm there was spirits behind the bar but you were only allowed it if you payed for it had hot water for 2 days out of the 10 we stayed there had to beg for toilet rolls the rooms weren't very clean the bathroom and shower were very unhygienic and could do with ripping out and starting again there was a fresh water dispenser which we found out was being filled with a hose pipe from the tap the hot drinks machine only had white coffee there were sugar cubes which were left open and had ants all over them the staff were very ignorant there was only a barman called David that tried to help you out but he got daggers of the management when he did. The pool filter wasn't working and they were just chucking chlorine crystals in the pool on the night weren't even measuring them we got 6 beds to sleep 8 of us which one was only a 5 month old baby the electric kept going on and off throughout our stay there were hazards all around the pool area there was no entertainment for the kids which we had 4 with us the kids practically had to beg for a glass of pop towels and room cleaning was practically none existent there was no desserts or ice cream or snacks for the kids we had to eat and drink out all the time we were there it was just a depressing holiday the best thing about this hotel was the transfer bus turning up to take us back to the airport to go home!

Man at reception just laughing and keeps telling us rooms will be ready in 3 hours he has been saying that since 12.30 am. There are 3 other couples waiting for a room.We were eventually given a room that was filthy while friends were sent to another hotel that was unfinished.
