Regnum Carya is my happy place

    rating30 May 2026

I’d been wanting to visit Regnum Carya for a long time and finally went in March—it fully met my expectations. Our Pearl Pool room was great (though the pool was too cold to use), and relaxing on the porch was lovely.Positives:Huge hotel with plenty to do—even in winter when some facilities are closedAccess to Regnum The Crown (most facilities free)Lively atmosphere, even in MarchGreat heated main pool with plenty of sunbedsExcellent food, especially in the main restaurantVery helpful Guest Relations team (special thanks to Julia)Fun on-site zooAreas to improve:À la carte restaurants and games are all extra (unlike similar hotels like Maxx Royal)24/7 restaurant feels outdated with a limited menuUnwelcoming first greeting on arrival - it kinda killed the vibe.Poor experience with Reception staffNo CIP service, which feels like a gap at this price levelOverall, I really enjoyed the hotel and would love to return to experience it in summer.

    Not luxury, fell below expectations

    rating29 May 2026

Restaurant reservations were very difficult to secure, and the food quality did not meet expectations for a luxury resort.Beach service was slow, with long waits and difficulty finding staff. The airport transfer was also disappointing. Despite booking in advance for a family of four and requesting a comfortable vehicle, we were assigned a very uncomfortable van for the long ride to airport. This fell short of the service expected from a luxury hotel.

Mixed Feelings on our 2nd Visit

    rating29 May 2026

We have just returned from our second visit to Regnum Carya and I’m unsure at the moment whether this will be the last. I noticed a substantial drop in service since we visited in May last year, before The Crown opened. We arrived at the hotel at around 9.30pm, and there was no warm greeting, no welcome drink and chocolate strawberries offered to us like last year., there was no one else checking in so I’m unsure why that was not offered. We were told we had been given a room upgrade and now had a sea view, brilliant I thought!! We arrive in the room and it was not like the Jade room we had last year, there was a tiny bathroom, no bath, no double sink, no walk in wardrobe, the curtains were falling down and the sea view was as about an inch of sea visable above the trees. I went down to reception to ask what this room was, and was told it was a Jade room with an upgraded view. I asked if we could be moved into the room I had originally booked, and were moved the following day to a jade room with bath and walk in wardrobe overlooking the golf course and helipad. It was inconvenient having no room for part of our first day but I was grateful, and happy with the room we were given. We were grateful to be able to try out the pools at the Crown, but on our first day we went for a quick lunch at Mexa for 45 minutes and came back and our towels and belongings had been removed. I’m not somebody who goes down and reserves beds before they are needed and I understand the need to remove belongings of people that do that, but 45 minutes at lunchtime seems extreme. We witnessed many stand offs between guests who had had their belongings removed and the beds given to other people, it just ends up with a tense atmosphere around the pool. On one day me and my daughter shared a single sunbed, with me laying on the floor as there were no other beds available. Due to this and the sheer anger of Crown guest being downright rude about Carya guests using facilities that they have every right to use, we moved away from the main Crown pool for the rest of the stay. I did want to mention Kayra who was providing drinks service on skates around the Crown main pool, he was absolutely brilliant and was constantly checking that we had everything we needed, he’s a great asset to the team. We managed to book 3 à la carte restaurants during our week long stay at a charge of €30 per person each time, we ate at Maia, Koshimoto and Yan Ji. Two of these reservations were at 9.45pm as that was all that was available and Yan Ji we only received a reservation as I went to Guests Relations to complain that booking an à la carte had become impossible after the first 2 days. We got lost finding Maia and unfortunately it was raining and thundering as we were trying to locate it, so arrived soaked through, we were pretty much shooed away from the entering but I said we wanted to eat as it was 10pm and we were hungry and tired. The other restaurants were good, Yan Ji is a lovely vibe, I recommend the orange shrimp - it was delicious! We tried Grill do Brazil but had to wait for over an hour for a table of 2 (despite it being 1/4 full) and it was nothing special. The buffet felt a bit like a Harvester restaurant, the menus had old food stuck to them and it just felt chaotic. We also went to Alia for lunch at a cost of €30 each, we had to wait 20 minutes for our drinks which again was strange as the restaurant was only half full.Maybe we got lucky on our first visit as we had a wonderful time, I booked this holiday 9 months ahead of our stay and was so excited to return but I feel now that it’s lost its magic a little. It’s really aimed at the super spenders and seems like everyone else is forgotten. I’m not sure if I would return at this point. That said, the hotel is absolutely beautiful, the food offerings are great and we really enjoy the animals around the resort. It just needs to get its spark back. Even as a Carya guest, I do believe they should limit certain areas of the Crown to those guest that have paid the premium as this would stop the bad feelings around the resort but while the whole resort is open for all you cannot blame Carya guests for wanting to try out the new facilities on offer. Even booking Carya this was a very expensive holiday for me to bring my daughter on holiday alone, so it is disappointing to leave feeling like this was not the holiday I was expecting.
