    Nothing like the brochures

    rating24 Sept 2011

Arrived at 7.30 in the morning, reception area was uninviting and the minibus driver had to wake someone up to see to us. After searching for a key he disappeared for several minutes then showed us to our room on the first floor. Although it looked fairly clean the furniture was only fit for throwing out and the sheets and towels needed a wash in that well known brand that promises whiter whites, the air conditioning worked but later we found that it leaked constantly. The bathroom was in need of modernising with the red tap giving cold water and the blue tap hot. The eating area was by the side of the pool, the food was in a side room which was open to the dining area and the food was left uncovered and was poor quality. The staff served themselves from the guest area and ate in a room that was separtated from the guests by an old dirty curtain. Beverages were handed out at the pool bar which was also the main bar and was stocked with a few soft drinks and water, beer was on request and was purchased from the shop opposite as and when required..On investigating the area we estimated that the beach was a good 2 kilometres not the 900 mtrs in the write up, thankfully the Red Lion served both food and drink and excellent quisine was available from the Britannia a five minute walk from the hotel. We met with the Thos. Cook rep who was excellent and arranged for us to move rooms, we were given a room on the third floor(no lift) that had actually been refurbished and was acceptable. It had a door that actually locked when you pulled it to and you didn't have to mess about pushing buttons on the inside before you closed the door. However the plumbing was in reverse again the hot water being scalding. We were told that the hotel had changed hands twice over the season and that the receptionist had left, as a parting gesture he or she had taken all the keys off the key rings and thrown them into and old tin. Concequently all the doors had to be tried with keys from the tin, some rooms still had not been paired up and most rooms that had still only had one key. If like us you did not hand in your key when you were not in your room the cleaners could not get in to clean and you had wait around for them to appear on your floor. Most of the "staff" did not speak any English and did not appear to have any set tasks to do in fact some of the Turkish guests seemed to have the run of the place serving themselves behind the bar and going into areas that are generally off limits to guests. The pool although it looked good had over a meter of plastic grating missing around it. Three guests fell through into drain during our stay one losing her hand bag into the pool. Afternoons' in the pool were dominated by the staff who larked about or harrased young women on sun beds. A glass was broken by the pool one night and the staff tried to get the bits out of the pool using fishing nets by the light of mobile phones! There was no entertainment in the hotel the TV only had Turkish and Russian stations. All in all a very disapointing hotel, why it has a 3 star plus rating beggars belief, locally it has been voted the worst hotel in the area.B&B Notts

    Rubbish hotel

    rating14 Sept 2011

Would not go back here in a million years. Just got back from turkey yesterday morning after being there for a week on my honeymoon. The hotel was terrible it didn't serve any food at all. I fell down the stairs on the 1st day as there are no lights on the stairs. There was no entertainment day or night had to walk down to the pubs but they weren't very good either. The pool and sunbeds were always empty which wasn't always a bad thing at least wee got a sunbed every day. The staff were ok but not great. Our rep angela was helpful and very nice. I wouldn't recommend this hotel 2 anyone its very run down and no one had anything good to say about it. Going to marmaris next year so hopefully wee will have a better holiday.

Dirty rooms, say they will clean 5/7 days, we got it cleaned once in our 8 days we lived there. The staff was unkind and met the guests in a friendly way. The breakfast was often half emty and tasted bad. The say that all rooms should have balcony but that's a lie. I can't say anything nice about sertkaya as a hotel, maybe it would be fair enough as a refugee camp.
